I have a new respect for Texas, or at least some of its leaders. They have been the first state to really step up and help out with the Katrina disaster. In a recent press conference, the Governor stated they have cleared the schedule of the Astrodome until December, and are sending over 500 buses to come and get the refugees from the Superdome. Those people can stay in the Astrodome as long as needed, and they are allowing the children to enroll in Texas public schools. The state is also stepping up funding to those schools for extra textbooks, lunchroom supplies, etc.

Big thumbs up Texas!

Chris Matthews was interviewing the governeor of Texas the other day, when it was announced that refugees would be sent to the Astrodome.

Chris matthews then asked the Governor: "How is this news going to effect the remaining home games of the Astros?"

The Governor replied: "Uh, the Astros havent played in the dome in a few years. They now play at Minute Maid park"

All my respect for Chris Matthews went out the door at that very moment.

My mom works as a secretary in Knox County and they are told that they are supposed to allow any and every kid that comes from down there to enroll, no questions ask...But I now have a lot of respect for the leaders of Texas.

God Bless and Go Vols
