New Rivals 250

They blamed it on his proneness to injury? Crazy wasn't he top 10 a while ago on 24/7 list?

BTW, what is the story on Jacob Phillips?

Jordan Williams @ #156

“Williams is an imposing figure at defensive end and has a lot of natural ability. His hand techniques were more advanced and he is much stronger than we originally thought. It’s easy to see why his recruitment has taken off lately. Williams currently has a top five of Clemson, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio State and Virginia Tech.” - Friedman

Gaddy @ #238

“Gaddy is a massive defensive tackle whose quickness at the snap surprises offensive linemen. At the Charlotte Rivals Camp, he was able to push around offensive linemen and even showed off some pretty good hand techniques. Tennessee currently leads for Gaddy, but many others are in the mix.” - Friedman

Someone explain how Trey Smith isn't in the top 250 players according to Rivals, yet ESPN and 247 have him as their top OT.

Too much of their rankings come from that the kid attends the Rivals camp. I seem to remember this being an issue with other recruits previously.

Or they won't admit they were wrong in his evaluation. See Preston Williams.

Big reason they are losing in house talent to other services IMO

Rivals is losing their edge

I prefer 247 personally. I feel it's been most accurate MINUS the head scratcher of the century Matt Elam lol

Were our coaches really persuing Elam? I remember him having a UT offer, but I just couldn't get past his weight being a huge issue for him (pun intended).

I mean, in their slight defense, that is the best way for multiple Rivals scouts to get eyes on a prospect for rating. Obviously everyone can watch film, but the reason why all the services hold camps is so their scouts can see a bunch of top talent head to head.

Technically, it's the same thing UT and all the other schools do. Guys get offers at our camps because multiple coaches can seem the live all at once. Yes, there's some bias by each service, but the process itself is technically right.
