Apparently there is going to be a press conference Friday at 3pm ET to announce a brand new Sprint Cup team is forming. They're being really secretive about who they are but interestingly enough they're following Kasey Khane on Twitter. They said that if the get 500 followers by Friday they'll start dropping some hints so if you have an account follow them. My guess is that this is the mystery team Khane might be running for next year.

I'm glad you posted it. It's just one of those deals where I'll have to believe it, to see it. Hopefully it will be a very competitive team, though.

Per Kasey Khane's official site he and Budweiser are having a 3:40ET press conference Friday, that is right after the scheduled press conference for this "new cup team".

Better be a short one, qualifying is at 4:00.

In other words, Hendrick is adding another car.

At this point they might as well let Hendrick and Roush own as many teams as they want because their attempt at bringing in the little man isn't working. The same teams still dominate, the same teams still start and park so I'd just about prefer seeing those guys field 15 teams apiece rather than seeing 10 cars hit the garage area 20 laps into a race to park their cars.

I understand your point, but I can't see such large teams being good for competition since so many drivers would be bound by team rules. The lack of sponsor dollars is why small teams are struggling, and even the large teams are having their problems keeping sponsors. NASCAR needs to do more to get sponsors dollars to the teams, instead of trying to siphon off as much as they can. Example: when a potential sponsor approaches NASCAR about sponsoring a race or a promotion, they should first try to get them to consider sponsoring a team.

Roush and Hendrick may be good, but there is no team that can run more than 5 cars at a high level and still be competitive.

Something about this new team makes Phillip Hampton come to mind, I hope I'm wrong. I hope it's legit.

Very good point, haven't really thought about it that way before.

Mystery team revealed; America's Racing Team.

Its going to be funded entirely by the fans, the guy doing the press conference said no corporate partner will ever be on the hood. Said fans who become team partners will have input on driver, crew chief, crew members, etc.

Interesting idea but its my opinion that is going to fail miserably.

This sounds like a terrible idea.

They sound really optimistic. I wonder which route they will go? Will they get a popular driver who sells to the fans, or a former past champion to get in the show? I'd go in both directions.

Stupid idea.

Hey guys, I'm, going to start an NFL franchise. Just pay me $300.00 each and then you can vote on what colors our jerseys will be. For an extra $100.00, I'll let you vote on who we should pick in next year's draft.
