The crowd was a factor for sure. There's no doubt about it. The noise was literally deafening at times.

Actually, I've found that nothing is as load to me now as it was 24 years ago! But I agree - never been to a game as loud as that one.

Not sure what the official attendance was for Saturday's game, but I know the '98 UT-UF game was just shy of 108k - it very well may have been louder 24 years ago. Loudest I've ever heard Neyland, and to this day the only comparison I can tell people is just fire up a chainsaw right next to your ear and run it full throttle for 4 hours

Actually, I've found that nothing is as load to me now as it was 24 years ago! But I agree - never been to a game as loud as that one.

I was at both and IMO this was as loud. Although the fans in the upperdeck north endzone stomped their feet in the 98 Florida game which made it nearly unbearable for the concessions workers. But inside the stadium this felt at least as loud.
