Tennessee has officially hired Dan Parker of Parker Executive Search to help fill its hoops coach opening. Parker placed Pelphrey at Arkansas. Wyoming also hired Parker to help with its hoops coaching search. Parker's going rate for his services: $75,000

Downside: Dan Parker = UGA guy, therefore of questionable trust.
FWIW, he's also handling the NCState search, but not GTech's BBall coach. Handled UGA's hiring of Mark Fox, GTech's hiring of Paul Johnson (FB), the current Ga State BBall coach, Gillispie to UK, Brian Kelly to ND, and countless others. Their website claims "we complete most coach searches within 10-14 days and athletic director searches within 4-5 weeks, depending on the client's timetable." Assisted in the search for both Myles Brand and his successor Mark Emmert as NCAA president (perhaps the NCAA ties will help in getting 'inside info' for coaching candidates?)
Search Process:
(Source - very interesting information)"Working with Kroll Inc., a security firm that bills itself as "the world's leading risk consulting company," Parker Executive Search conducts extensive background checks on possible criminal, civil and credit issues.
To be included in his firm's coaches database, Parker said, prospective candidates must provide Social Security and driver's license numbers and sign a "potential issues statement" swearing that nothing damaging will be revealed. The company performs a through media review {HI, Dan!}, including YouTube, he said.
On the performance end, Parker said coaches are evaluated by factors such as their records, and graduation and academic progress rates. Each school's recruiting budgets, facilities and how much it is willing to pay also are monitored so coaches know what they're getting into."
My guess is that we'll have a coach in place by the end of the NABC coaches' convention in Houston (3/31 - 4/4), if not before hand. Somehow, I get the sense that we really can't wait much past that. (Not sure how/if that affects the LFrank chances.)
Side note 1: 4-5 weeks for an AD? Wonder if that is a timeline for MH to be replaced?
Side note 2: If we have this experienced firm at the helm, why in the heck would we need LF as a 'consultant'? (I call BS on this one.)
Side note 3: Parker's firm prides itself for its confidentiality. In most the other searches, there is a noticeable dearth of 'credible' information leaks but at UT this seems to be par for the course. Why is that? Are people simply making up stuff for subscription profits??? (Come to think of it, how does SBB know anything?)
