Next Kentucky Coach - who would you like to see?

With Billy D out, here are some names tossed around:

Rick Barnes
Tom Izzo
Tom Crean
Mark Few
Billy Gillespie

Volnation, who would you most want to see coaching them next year? And who would you least like to see coaching them?

I'd like a four-headed monster of Kevin O'Neal, Wade Houston, Jerry Green and Buzz (he was Michael Jordan's rommate you know).

According to ESPN, Barnes is now their target. But the rest of the list could just be speculation.

From the article:

"Speculation has centered on Texas coach Rick Barnes as Kentucky's Plan B to replace Tubby Smith, who left the program in March for the job at Minnesota. Sources said Thursday that that speculation is accurate and that Barnes will seriously listen to Kentucky's pitch...

....Kentucky's search might also include Michigan State's Tom Izzo, Marquette's Tom Crean, Texas A&M's Billy Gillispie and Gonzaga's Mark Few."

i would like to see them hire Tom Crean because I don't think he's that great of a coach and would do nothing more than Tubby did up there. He's an OK recruiter and hasn't done a lot at Marquette with lots of talent. I think the fan base would be on him bad and he wouldn't succeed. So, from a UT point of view, I would like to see Crean hired.. but I think the best hire they could pull off would be Mark Few. I think Few is an outstanding coach who has done more with less than anyone. Barnes would obviously be a great hire but I don't think he's leaving Texas. Izzo isn't going to leave Mich. St, Gillespie isn't leaving A&M.

I hope they will sign Crean too. He is by far the least threat of the other candidates, but it will come down to Billy Gillispie or maybe even Barnes.

I wouldn't mind Barnes. He's a guy I think I could dislike for years to come, and CBP is 2-0 against him at Tennessee.

A&M was said to be finalizing a deal with Gillespie that would make him the highest paid coach in the Big XII. Why is his name still in the hat?

Because, 1. When the details of the contract made their way into the public discourse, it became obvious that Self and Barnes would still be making more than Billy Clyde and 2. unless he's done it in the last two days, he still hasn't signed said extension.

I'll be surprised if it's Izzo or Barnes. Both have good programs, especially the latter. Why would he leave the Longhorns? Money? I don't think so.

Izzo's program has accomplished a whole lot more than Barnes has at Texas.

Billy D steals candy from babies and punches orphans.

Barnes is Barnhart's next favorite candidate. Things are nuts up here.

I suppose there is a big difference between purportedly on UK's wish list and being their next hire as well. I simply find it odd that a guy who is "finalizing an extension" with his current school keeps being bandied about as a candidate.

I figured the story by now would be that UK never wanted Donovan in the first place, and that he is a cannibal and a child molester who just got lucky with one recruiting class. Maybe we have passed that stage already.
