I would play JG against KY but if he has back to back turnovers that he is responsible for I’d put in Shrout or Maurer. If we have a sizable lead let HB play some to get experience.

Alabama- We should give Maurer first quarter, JG second and Shrout third quarter. Play the best playing QB 4th quarter. Maybe HB last quarter to throw Bama off?

Worst idea I have ever heard for the Bama game

So....let JG fool us again by playing bad comp??

That's your answer?

So you'd give JG another shot against a low-mid-tier SEC opponent for a full game, and then throw Maurer/Shrout to the wolves against Alabama after neither has taken a single in-game snap in 2020?

How is that even remotely logical?

JG is a head case. He’s a back up to anyone.

You want to lose by 56 points instead of 28?

I would start 2021 prep, this season is a mulligan and we clearly aren't in a class that can compete for championships. So I enter 2021 with a very experienced QB. Manning, Clausen, Ainge etc all took over around this point in their freshman years. It's going to be a lump taking year anyway, take lumps getting better instead of staying stagnant with a QB that has shown his ceiling.

Is anybody going to say what they would do as coach or just bash me?
Play your most experienced backup ( Maurer)

If he can't hack it against UK, then put in your 5 star and get him some confidence.

After you've established that, game plan for Bama is to throw the football down the middle. They gave up 600 yards to Ole Miss.

Defensively blitz and bring one extra man every other play. Play off 10 yards outside the hash and break on in routes or stay on top of deep routes.

Try to keep it to the 4th and make a big play to win it.

If Maurer and Bailey aren't enough for our offense then it really won't matter....

We led UGA at the half with consistent QB play.

We're literally ONE guy away from that.

We were leading because of a freak snap by UGA that sailed into their endzone. I don't see us being able to outscore Alabama, and I'll never think we can beat Florida until the game is over. That second half team that showed up could lose out. I'd roll with Bailey the rest of the way and if he's legit, we will be golden for 2021.

If I were truly convinced that Bailey or Mauer wasn’t ready, then I put JG under center and run I formation power ball. We know and every opposing coach knows that JG isn’t going to beat you with his arm. So we might as well bring every available blocker to the line. We have the beef on the OL and solid backs. The extra bodies from your 11 that are wide outs who aren’t going to see the ball anyway could be used toward dual TE’s. Heck, even run a few wishbone sets. Most opposing teams have a lot of their roster talent invested in defensive secondary. A true power run game removes them from the equation. Front seven against front seven, TN should have the advantage against every remaining opponent except Bama. Plus running some clock means maybe at least the other team doesn’t get enough possessions to hang 40 on us which seems to be the norm of late.

Also, no one expects it. Always keep you opponent guessing. TN offense hadn’t made an opposing DC guess in a long time.

I don't believe Pruitt is a VFL...
It just blows my mind that anyone could see what happened last year and not take into consideration the strength of Maurers opponents vs JGs. Not to mention that Maurers best performances came vs the best teams within that stretch. Those that don’t want to face the facts need to stop complaining because truth is they don’t want another qb if they’re not willing to allow a freshman to develop. Which makes them no different than JP.

While trying to figure out how the hell I was going to stop Terry Wilson and Co. from running for 500 yards next week, I would call Saban. Ask if there were any players that he might want for his roster. If there were(which I doubt) I would work a transfer trade to get out of the Alabama game.
Do the same with Jimbo and Mullen. Schedule to play Vandy three additional games making an agreement with Mason assuring him one win out of the 4 games so he can keep his job. I could coach the team to a five win season.

What makes me question Pruitt's ability to be a HC, is that he is incapable or unwilling to evaluate the detailed play of the offense, and make HC decisions.

He's myopically focused on the defense, and neglecting offensive player development and coaching, that's not how you reach success as a HC.

If I’m the coach?

JT Shrout starts and plays till he proves he’s not the answer. He’s got the size and best arm on the team, so I can at least have a vertical passing threat to help neutralize the D stacking the box if he can complete balls.

If that doesn’t work I go to Maurer, and we build the plan around his strengths. Unless I absolutely have to am I putting HB out there. I’m trying to win now, putting HB out there (even if he has the highest ceiling) isn’t conducive to that thought process.

I’m the coach....so I see Tennessee can’t get it done with it’s current QB. I let the top two “other” guys have all the snaps 1 & 2 throughout the week.

VS KY I start whoever looked the “most complete” and the “most ready”......not necessarily who was the best. Depending on the situation I may give the other one a shot as well......but I would not simply rotate them in and out.

Do I think Tennessee could beat KY with JG....yes; however I don’t think Tennessee could be what I think they are capable of being with JG.....therefore I would make a change.
