Maryland will likely be 3-3. and is good

Host East Carolina is a good team at 6-1 as they were playing for a sweep at #11 UVA this afternoon

I'm glad we're not playing ECU first on a Friday night. Maryland is likely the 1st or 2nd beast team in Big10. ECU will likely be at the top of American. ECU has been "off" for a few seasons but were a great team the last decade before coaching problems.

Maryland was the first opponent in Alabama's refurbished ballpark and held up well

Next weekend will tell us a lot. Taking 2 of 3 will be a nice accomplishment. If we hit like we have been, knowing the bats have to cool a little, we should be in good shape.

ECU was hosing the team and the UT fans as much as they could that weekend. They played the region at one podunk stadium 45-60 mins away and played the super region at another podunk stadium in Kinston.

They were selling UT's allotment to their own fans.

Karma bit their but that weekend as that was likely their best team as Coach LeCLair-I believe was diagnosed the next year with ALS>

The last few weeks of 2001, Burke and Stevie Daniels were humiliating pitching. Delmonico rested pitching for the SEC tourney and we were 2-and-Q. Cost us a #1 seed in our own region and possibly a Top-8 national seed.

Saw the weather for Wednesday and it's going to be a bit cool (40s) but at least it should be dry.

Weather in Greenville, NC is chance of rain on Friday and Sunday

Friday 56 35% rain chance (game at noon)
Saturday 55 (game at 4:30)
Sunday 62 35% rain chance (game at 11:00 am)

Nice fryeguy on the 2001 recap. I forgot it was in Kinston at a minor league park. Streamed the radio broadcast of the super regional games over a 56k modem, that might have been the first year for the super regional format IIRC.

with KS on the DL for a bit and HM stepping into a starting role, wonder who the mid-week starter is going to be? It might be a different pitcher every inning....

I did the the exact same thing because I could not get a ticket. Sitting upstairs in what is now my daughters room listening on a PC.

Friends of mine who went to Kinston regaling me with stories about how nice it was win after the bad treatment.

I was at GaTEch in 2005 after evacuating Destin early for Tropical Storm Arlene (I believe) That was the HUGE Katrina season. GaTech fans had hosted and lost to 2 prior SEC teams in Supers and were not happy to hear SEC SEC SEC at all. I missed the Fitzgerald HR in game 1 as I was watching in the condo as they were boarding it up

I think it will probably be Neely for a couple, Soto for a couple, Vasquez for a couple maybe Jackson with Reid closing.

That kind of deal. I don't really have a feel for the throwing schedule yet, but Hunter Martin could pitch in a pinch for an inning or two if the game is close.

Vasquez will start in the midweek game and a "slew" of others I mentioned above might see action as well as Kane if necessary. I don't know the throwing schedule but even Martin could be used in a tight game.

CDS said he wanted to have a midweek starter but the injury to Kyle has tied his hands a bit in that regard.

In terms of the line-up, only the DH is unsettled at this point. Coach was happy with Ramirez, Pruett could have a shot and Bryant Harris is dealing with some injuries, but he could be in the mix as well.

this weekend is shaping up to be a good one! East Carolina is getting a lot of well deserved, hype. If we can knock them off and take 2 of 3 this weekend, look out baby!!!!!!!
