Grand Canyon split home series 2-2 to Gonzaga losing 2 games by big scores

St. Mary's took 3 of 4 at home from Seattle (not the Mariners) but was slaughtered in final game 14-1

Central Michigan was swept at Arkansas but played respectably as they always seem to do.

Cincinnati (not the Reds) was swept more convincingly in 3 at LSU. They play in a tourney style event at UGA first. Friday through Sunday.

Tennessee will be the most talented team at GCU next weekend. The host is playing an additional game on Thursday against Central Michigan so we'll likely be facing their #2 guy on Friday unless they save him for the higher profile game against Vols.

Temps willing be in mid to upper 80s

Grand Canyon is expected to win their conference and I very much respect that coaching staff, Cinci put up a heck of a fight in one of the games versus LSU, I think Friday...There aren't any gimmies...not for this team.

Man, would I ever love to sit in 80+ degree weather and watch college baseball.

GCU is an up-and-coming program in all sports but it's obvious they've made baseball their priority to the big time.

Which makes since, baseball is naturally a sport that invites parity and we see lots of small schools make a name for themselves in baseball when they are nonexistent in all others. Think Dallas Baptist, Rice, San Diego, and others.

And let's face, they've figured out being a private school gives them a hell of an advantage with the neighborhood public big boys like UofA and ASU. I have no doubt they've analyzed Rice's and Vandy's "games" and realized they can play the same game. I doubt many of their guys are not on full scholarship.

Per the report that came out last summer they aren't one of the 13 teams that take full advantage of that loophole. It's an entire school Decision to make and I doubt that school is "rich" enough to ever do it

Yep. Friday night. They took LSU to extra innings. They looked like a good baseball team.

In 2014, we started 12-0 and then went 12-18 in SEC play.
I'm going to reserve judgement on this team until we start playing SEC teams.

Don't have time listen to all of it

What was his response?

Said he didn't want to make excuses, just answering the question. Said we find talent instate and make good offers to them but vandy can give the same player 30-40% more money. Said Virginia is in the same boat and look who has been in the championship series the last two years.

Very surprised he answered that way.

I wish the gloves would come off on this one but this board doesn't won't me to go there again

Hey it's a new season, maybe there's some new folks who would like to have the same question answered.

I say let it rip Bruin.

I thought the way the caller starting off with a comparison of the facilities was out of left field, Vandy recently and already has further plans to spend millions on upgrades and we are behind a great many of our SEC brethren in that regard.

Here's some good news, GCU will have a stream for the game and I've watched some of their game with Gonzaga and it looks like a good stream!

So we'll get our first peek.

GCU is very good defensively. The pitcher we are likely to see is very good and the defending regular season WAC champs have the pre-season WAC POY at SS also the MVP of the Alaska League this past summer.. This will be a good test, sounds like Cox on Friday, Warren on Saturday and Serrano on Sunday and if they can go longer than 4 innings CDS will ride them.

GBO!!!

We should take all 3 games from this series but like another poster said you never know. We should be favorites for all 3 games for sure. Be nice to be 5-1 after 2 weeks of baseball. :)

tonight will be the big game.

GCU used 6 pitchers last night. As I suspected they did not use their #1 guy as their starter Evanko pitched in second game last weekend getting shelled in 2/3 of inning by Gozanga. He did much better last night OR CMU is REALLY bad.

Jorge Perez was their opening day starter last week going 5-2/3. w/7 hits but no runs against Gonzaga. 4 Ks vs. 2 BB.

So, I knew they would save their #1 RS Senior for Tennessee. I see the game is being broadcast on local TV as well. You can apparently stream it there at 9pm EST.

(Schedule - Cox7 Arizona)

I see Kyle Serranno will likely not pitch this weekend. At least not as a starter

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Friday night starters from all three teams.
