We have talent everywhere. A few calls, dropped balls and one bad read would have kept this game tight. We were playing a more experienced team, but our talent level is there. I think Pearson being out was huge. Croom needs to show up or get off the field. Dropped several today. The refs didn't help him any by failing to call the pi on the ou defender on a third down.

Our D will be flat out nasty next year.

I still think this is a 7 win year, but next I believe 9-10 is possible.

I agree but I think we're two years out. Next year we'll be breaking in a new QB and we lose AJ. Everywhere else I think we continue to get better.

Losing AJ will be big but I think RM will step into a captain's role.

On offense, I think we will be fine with the skill position talent we have coming back.

My biggest concern is QB. We need a QB thst can run occasionally and I don't see one on the roster or committed. This is a broken record but running the zone read with a qb that never keeps it cripples your running game.

I agree about excuses need to stop. Last year we could not run and move the ball even though we had experienced o-line (3 in NFL now). This year we could not move the ball because we have inexperienced o-line. I'm afraid next year the excuse will be that Worley is gone so we have inexperienced QB. At some point the offensive side of the ball have to step up and all get on the same page and start playing well. There were a few bright spots last year (UGA, SCjr), but not enough. OC and his staff need to fix this and start showing immediate improvements - because the question can already be raised whether they themselves are not the problem that's holding this team back.

Oklahoma just seemed a whole step faster than us last night.

I don't have the time nor inclination to actually do this but I am curious how many years in a row we've been saying "wait until next year" or something like that on here. I do it all the time trying to be positive and it seems to come up a lot in other threads.

I guess hope does spring eternal.

The difference in the past and now is blind hope vs evidence of hope. The team is made up of almost entirely of freshmen and sophomores. To be honest it amazes me how we can even compete with the amount of youth on this team.

TENNESSEE FANS have said that every year that we have not won the National Championship since Team 001 took the field way back when. It is why we are fans.

REF: Elhanan's question about how long have we said wait till next year

His name is Jauan Jennings

They need to be playing Dobbs then. Why play a washed up senior when we can give next yrs. QB playing time?

Yes, BUT how much will Dormandy learn from January - August, so that he will be ready for the Okla homo game?

Will they be able to use the whole playbook with his at q.b. or will they have to just give him a package of about 50 plays and play a vanilla offense until he grows more????

If we had another year of growth for the whole team, with Worley returning and the game at Neyland, then we could get them.

Seriously? A third of the team had never even played a college road game. We replaced BOTH D-line and O-line. You dont think that is whats holding us back? By the way we had the best season running the ball last year since 2004 so idk where youre getting this "we couldn't run the ball last year" ****. Moron

We could not effectively run the ball last year in any games that mattered. In all the blowout losses (Oregon, Bama, Mizzou, Auburn, UF) we were completely impotent on offense - and given we had 3 NFL players on that o-line this failure was on the OC and his staff. Remember that we could not get a few inches running the ball on 4th down and lost the Vandy game as well?
No, running game was a failure last year and padding the stats vs some pushovers does not change that fact.

without a QB it won't happen.
