NASCAR didn't forego it's season.I do not agree with the chase format..Take it for what it's worth, only if you care for one more than the other! :twocents:

As long as a Hendrick Motor Sports driver doesn't win, I don't care who wins. Hopefully Unibrow Johnson won't win. :biggrin2:

I think it will be between Kenseth and Stewart.

Stewart will win it if he don't have any problems...He has wins at most of the tracks left and where he's not won at he runs strong at...It's Stewart's to lose

Actually, I LOVE Nascar...I was a huge Dale Sr. fan  , and like Jr. and Stewart now. But I don't like the Chase for the Championship setup. Looking at it from a Sport Management position, not just as a fan, I think it was a knee-jerk reaction to two or three years of dominance by one or two teams.

As Nascar has more of these seasons without several of the top drivers (Earnhardt, Gordon, Jarrett, Labonte, Harvick, etc.) in the chase, I think they will change the format again.

It was like "gee lets change our product, and exclude half of our most popular attractions from really being involved" I watch racing religiously, but the last 10 races are now completely worthless to 3/4 of the field...THAT is boring

There seem to be alot of knee jerk reactions in NASCAR lately. That, apparently, is Brian France's management style. Like this crazy idea of limiting the number of teams a car owner can have. Roush has had five teams for years, and nobody has had a problem with it before. Now he finally gets all of his teams running well and they all make the chase, and what does NASCAR do? They want to punish him for it. That sends a really attractive message to potential owners (not to mention sponsers). Come on in, but if you are too successful then Lord God France is gonna knock you back down into your place. :shakehead: For the sake of everyone involved I wish Brian France would step down and turn control of NASCAR over to someone else before he totally destroys this awesome sport that it took his father and grandfather a lifetime to build. Rant over now :(

I've watched NASCAR come along since the late 50's. Fom the mid 60's thrugh the late 90's it was what I lived for after football was over. Now..... I haven't watched a race in two years.

Reasons
#1 Too many old guard southern drivers retiring. Yankees and left-coasters taking the sport over.
#2 The chase. Penalizes drivers with big points leads.
#3. Restrictor plates. Too much freight train racing (?) at Talledega and Daytona. Boring. Watch the last 5 laps and you've seen the whole race.
#4. Nextel Cup???? Winston Cup, dammit.
#5. Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s untimely demise.
#6. Dale Jr. is becoming an a--hole whiner. Daddy would paddle his little ass if he were still around.
#7. Rather listen to chalk sqeaking on a blackboard as Darrell Waltrip hollering that stupid boogity-boogity-boogity crap. And come on, DW, nobody refers to someone else as a "cat" anymore. That went out with Doby Gillis. Suggestions: Fire DW and Ned Jarrett (blatantly root for DJ). Keep Benny Parsons, Bob Jenkins and Buddy Baker for all TV races. Have Eli Gold do ALL MRN radio broadcasts.
#8. Speed limit on pit road. Without a doubt, the stupidest rule change ever instituted. The fatality in the pits at Atlanta was unfortunate but races are won and lost in the pits, too. What does a 14 second pit stop get you when you get caught in a 55 mph jam giong back out.
#9. Incessant tampering with the rules in the name of parity. You never know what rules are in force that week unless you're watching on tv. Suggestion: take the damned spoilers off the cars altogether, then lets see who the best builder-driver combo is. I guarantee you won't need a restrictor plate anymore.
#10. Ticket prices. You can take a family of four to the beach for a week for what it costs to take the same four to a race. The first superspeedway race I ever saw (Atlanta International Raceway) was in 1988 and it cost $35.00 for the best seat in the house. And the parking was FREE.
#11. Four door front wheel drive family sedans masquerading as two door sport coupes. I don't think you can get rear wheel drive two door and a V8 in a Ford Taurus, for example. And that nose on the racing Dodge Charger. It doesn't even resemble a real Charger.
#12. Too many night races. Cup racing, like bigtime football is a daytime sport with just a few night events thrown in for TV ratings. I'm too old and can't see well enough to battle a hundred thousand drunk drivers at night just to get away from the track after the race.
#13. Normally aspirated engines (carbeurators). When is NASCAR going to get with the times and allow fuel injection?
