I'd like to know if the Neyland seating sections Y-6 through Y-8 have back rests. Shirley and I are selecting the games we will be able to attend. We're thinking of getting tickets for the lower Y section and wondering if we should bring our foldable padded seat covers or not.

Unless you are a season ticket holder who has bought a chair back attachment, no that section does not have chair backs.

I'm pretty sure most of the upper deck has chair backs. Especially the endzone section.

No, I'm fairly sure they don't unless you're in the newer upper deck on that side.

NOrth upper endzone has chairbacks, as well as Tennessee Terrace (obviously). Everything else is bleacher seating unless you purchase a seat back to be installed at your seats (usually run about $50 per seat per season).

Here is a great virtual chart, just click on the section and it will show the type of seat bleacher or chair back. Also gives a picture of the view from the section.

Hope this helps.Have a great trip.

No need for a seatback. The guy behind you will have his knees in your back.

I kid! Have fun

No seat backs. I think they rent the seats with backs to season ticket holders for 10.00/game

First, thank all you folks for responding, especially Clemvolsince54 for that cool virtual site where you get a pretty good idea of the seating info. Shirley and I will bring our padded covers that have seat backs that lock in place. I hope we have no trouble hauling them into the stadium. One of you mentioned you could buy a seat back so they might object to competition where you bring your own.

Never mind, I just checked utsports.com, it's just seats with arms that are prohibited.

The first two rows of the upper deck in all sections have backs as well right? (Box seats)

I think you're right. I seem to vaguely recall some kind soul on this board stating that last year. The seats Shirley and I have are armless and designed for bleachers. Rather well padded and stiff backs once opened but no arms. Anyway, thank you for going an extra mile to answer my question.

On a side note, we picked the WKU game as our first attending game. We figured this will be both entertaining and a good gauge to see what to expect season-wise from the Vols. The Hilltoppers' new coach will no doubt field a better than usual WKU team that comes to compete. So if they're anything like last year's Troy or Arkon, this will tell us very quickly what the 2013 Vols will be like performance-wise.

No sh**! Why do some people scoot forward onto the edge of their seat and plant knees in backs?

As far as the seat covers, some fit and some do not. I used some in BB that were too deep for the bleachers in V.

Thanks for the bleacher fit advice. I think I had better see if I can get into Neyland and see if mine fit. Not sure when I can do that but . . . .

About the knees, so far I haven't experienced that. But it might be because except for one game, it wasn't a full house. But i hear you. It's the very reason Shirley and I don't go to movie theaters anymore. There's always some jackass or kid who kicks or pushes the back of your seat. Shirley's temper is actually shorter than mine. So I figured before an explosion occurred, just don't go anymore. Films come out on DVD pretty fast anyway.

But Neyland we haven't been kneed as yet. Exactly the opposite. Despite being sports fans, we find nearly all the folks rather polite and fun to be around. We have seen some incidents such as a husband (boyfriend?)-wife (girlfriend) verbal fight, a drunky spilling a drink on a kid, and an older kid purposely knocking over his Pepsi and smirking as the liquid spread to our seats. He got foul looks from others who also saw it. We just moved to unused seats farther down. But I honestly felt like grabbing that 15yr old fat bassard and flushing him down a toilet. The adults with him did nothing. In my day if I had done that, I'd wish I had been born without an azz because I knew what was coming when I got home. He's the kind of kid who pulls antennae off butterflies and thinks it's fun. Still all in all, our Neyland experiences have been VERY GOOD.
