question for you to ponder...Florida hired the Dline coach from the Seahawks to be the Dcord. They are still in the playoffs. Does it hurt a college team to go after NFL coaches who are in the playoffs? On one hand it looks good on the resume, but on the other that coach cannot get into homes (for this recruiting year that is)

both hurt and help. helps because they can sell NFL experience. hurt because they cant build a relationship with the recruits

With Pete Carroll being in his first year in Seattle, was that d-line coach in the NFL the year before or did Pete bring him?

In the short term it hurts a little. It's easy to say "Hey, you're position coach can't meet you yet because he's coaching in the NFL playoffs." That can get the recruits' attention. However, it's hard because the kids want to meet their coach before playing for them for 4/5 years.

In the long term, it helps.

Charlie Weis isn't interested in, nor does he need to, establish relationships with recruits to be successful. He is Charlie Weis. It is Florida. Doesn't take much more than that.

There is no way to tell right now. Each situation and coach is unique. Florida doesn't get a lot of good recruits b/c of who the DC is. They get them for who they are and what they are putting together.

The DC coming from the NFL is a great selling point. Short term it hurts for getting in the home. Long term it helps to sell that you have a coach that knows what it takes to succeed in the NFL and learn those schemes in college.
