I don't think it can get worse than last season. Is that even possible?

Yes. Miss St in 2003.
3369 yards passing given up
2283 yards rushing given up
473 yards per game given up.
31 passing td's - 30 rushing td's
All good for last in the SEC. There are quite a few cases of monumental defensive suckitude in league history. Take your pick.

It did not help that you had Lloyd and Harry coaching them last year:rock:

Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do a something like this.........and totally redeem yourself!

While I was thinking about dumb and dumber....
I was thinking it would have been funny for the team to run through the T to the song that is playing at the start of the movie. Remember? It starts off going boom Shaka laka and is funny. Maybe it would have given us all something to smile about for a moment on Fall Saturdays in recent years.

If you want to see something that will truly make you sick, compare these stats for the 2012 defense (272-446-12, 3390 yds., 26 tds) with the following data:

Pass defense stats for 1969: Opponents completed 152-288 passes for 1990 yds. and 11 tds, with 30 interceptions.

Pass defense stats for 1970: Opponents completed 174-358 passes for 1963 yds. and only 4 tds, with a mind-boggling 36 interceptions. That is an incomprehensible 1:9 ratio for touchdowns/interceptions. See p. 33(353) of 2012 Tennessee Football Record Book: Records.

Over those two years, we intercepted an astonishing 1 out of every ten pass attempts. Those boys could play some serious pass defense.

Every time I think we've hit rock bottom with the defense, I'm proven wrong. This year has to get better right? Nowhere to go but up. (Same thing I thought last year and the year before). Switch back to the 4-3 should help though.

Was that a defense that was called Bennet's Bandits?

If the kid would turn and track the ball a little this year instead of chasing down the WR staring at him the whole time, he will be fine.... seems like that is all our DB's did last year. Coach em up Butch!

maybe some of the starters this year will be able to run better than a 4.7 in the 40.

no wonder our cb's were getting out run all over the field.poor technique and slow cb's was a bad combination.
