Nice OOC win for Florida hoops

Florida beat a decent FSU basketball team last night by 16. Unfortunately, next up is No. 2 Michigan State at MSU.

I watched last night's game and had the following thoughts:

1) Florida really isn't very good. No size, athleticism is fair at best. Well coached, though.

2) FSU is VERY big but once again terribly coached. Leonard Hamilton blows. In the hands of a good coach, that team could do something.

3) Florida guard Erving Walk lists at 5 foot 8, but I think that's if he's standing on tip toes. Nonetheless, he's lightning quick and fun to watch.

The game, especially fsu on offense, looked like watching a game of street hoops with no real plan.

Fsu does have good size though. UF is a very young inexperienced group but in another year or two they'll be competing for the conference again

The sentiments experessed in both of these posts are dead on correct. Wins like this, however, could be the difference in getting into the NCAA or not if UF manages .500 in conference play.

sounds like the bloom is off florida basketball's rose if you aren't even expecting a tourney bid. will meyer make it 2 massively overrated coaches?

We haven't been to the tournament the past two seasons...

you were kidding about the overrated coaches

Why would you think anybody on this site would give a flying rat's ass who won that basketball game, much less the football game this Saturday?

Please. 2 years ago, with all the pundits raving about Lucas, Speights and Calathes, not to mention the horde of large non-defending white men. Expectation for last year went down a little, but not near where the team fell.

How many had UF in the NIT fir the past two?

I was ready to put Billy D in the "Elite" or "Great" coach category after those back to back titles..but an Elite or Great coach doesnt parlay back to back into back to back NIT berths...:ermm:
