That game was a lot of fun. The Notre Dame fans were very classy given the beating they took. There was a man in the upper deck who tied a handkerchief to his umbrella and was waving the white flag as he left the stadium. Our section gave him an ovation.

I always revered Johnny Majors and appreciated all he did for us as a player and a coach!

Great memories there! Berry, James and Streeter were great in their day.

The team was not destined for greatness, and it took Johnny quite a few years to get us on track, but that game showed the possibilities. 7-5, as i recall, but the system was being established, much as it is today.

Was an awesome day on Rocky Top. Eagles concert the night before...ah...good memories.

What do you think? My guess is yes.

Side Note: Reggie Harper past last year. Sad situation. Harper was a definite VFL. The numerous scholarship offers both Football and Basketball that he passed up to become a Vol was something.

Back at that time, coaches shows were taped after the games. sometimes in the middle of the night. they would then fedex tapes to stations all across the state to show on Sunday's.

I'm confident Coach Majors, the staff, the administrators, the players and most fans all drank after that game was over. So yes, he had drinks before filming the show.

Ahh this was awesome to relive!...I remember it like yesterday...What is so crazy is We lost to Rutgers the week before that game...Everyone was so excited about beating Notre Dame!...I know I was! lol

Never heard Johnny say anything negative about any of his players, always a positive compliment.

The more I watch old footage of Tennessee Football the more I'm convinced that speed is the key to winning. If we could only get that speed back again. Watching the kick off returns is just awesome to watch the speed we had.
