College Football Live just reported that Atlanta Carver High School has banned UGA from their campus...Recruits can still commit but UGA coaches can't be at their school. Something about a player wanted to commit to UGA and they pulled his scholly before he could.

does anyone have any info on this???

UGA is running out of room and are going to have to turn away prospects. We need to get in on them

Yeah, the school said they won't let UGA on their campus since they turned away a QB that was going to commit on his visit over the weekend. They never told him his offer was revoked because they were running out of room.

Darren Myles is from Carver I believe.

That's a different Carver. The one Myles is from is in Atlanta. The one that UGA coaches are banned from is actually in Columbus.

Yeah...it's hilarious (since I live in Georga---and absolutely HATE ANYTHING THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH UGA) to read the AJC and all the idiot "dawg" fans... They are turning it on the kid...saying it is his fault and his family's fault for going up there "expecting things". Give me a break... They were also saying "only the best for UGA...it's his fault he waited so long to commit".

What a bunch of losers. Richt is the new Fulmer..I hate to say it...good guy, but not getting it done on the field.

Yeah, someone posted on this in the Around the NCAA sub-forum. As I said there, it's just so childish. It may feel like the only thing for the coach to do to show his distaste for the situation, but in the end it's not going to accomplish anything. Just like trying to persuade a skilled quarterback where his best destination for playing might be, it's impossible for a coach to keep these kids from going to Georgia if that's where they want to go play.

And unless this school just takes any kid without doing tryouts then I'm not sure what he's trying to accomplish. I assume he finds it to be different considering there was supposedly an offer on the table that they took back, but a program can't just take 100 kids. It's not the 50's anymore. This thing is bound to happen at nearly any major university in the country, so he may as well blacklist them all.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why defensive recruits are committing left and right to UGA. Their defense was awful last year, and their d-coordinator is already on a short leash and likely won't make it through the next four years. Richt IS the new Fulmer, and soon he will be having to ax assistants in order to save face before it's finally his ass that gets fired.

Carver-Columbus football coach bans UGA recruiters | AJC College Sports Recruiting

As first reported by former AJC staffers Todd Holcomb and Chip Saye in the e-mail newsletter Georgia High School Football Daily, Carver coach Dell McGee is upset because he says the Bulldogs withdrew a scholarship offer to quarterback Devin Burns while Burns was on the UGA campus this past Saturday night. What made it worse was, according to McGee, Burns had come with his entire family with the plan of committing that very day to Georgia coach Mark Richt.

This looked ugly in the way it was handled. Whole family there for what he thought was going to be the biggest moment of his life. I bet the rest of the league will use this against Richt as much as they can. Is Carver looks like a very good school for prospects.

Carver had eight players sign with colleges in February, including linebacker Jarvis Jones, who signed with Southern California. The program won a Georgia Class AAA championship in 2007.

The ban was first reported by Georgia High School Football Daily.

Carver defensive end Corey Crawford, who also made the trip to Georgia, was on the verge of comm itting to the Bulldogs, but McGee indicated they are now out of the picture.

Burns spoke to Richt on Sunday.

"He apologized and said they didn't handle it well," said Burns, a former NFL player who played at Auburn in the 1990s when current Georgia assistants Rodney Garner and Stacy Searels were on staff. "It was just a bad job on their part. They were sorry. He understood my stance in regards to them not recruiting my school and us not allowing them to come into our school to see our kids."

Now I dislike Georgia just as much as any fan, but arent we being a little hypocritical. We were all in arms just a few months ago about being "banned" from Pahokee and some of you pointing fingers now were saying " they cant do this to us, they have no right". Nothing will come of this, they will apologize, someone will get their a** kissed, and all will be right again.

I just think the incident will be used in negative recruiting efforts against UGA. I agree about the ban. The coach said he won't keep them out just that he will not support Geogia's recruiting efforts at Carter.

Rex, the only thing that I find different is that this is not all over the national news like Kiffins Pahokee situation.

then you dont know the circumstances. CLK insulted a community, Richt had a kid come in with his family holding a written offer and pulled the rug out from under him.

true, but Richt has admitted his guilt over how he poorly destroyed a young man in front of his family after a long trip. Imagine what you think is going to be one of the proudest moments in your life and it becomes a nightmare of embarrassment as the coach says, "Son, we dont want you."
