Blending politics and religion, President Barack Obama said his Christian faith is a driving force behind his economic policies, from Wall Street reform to his calls for the wealthy to pay higher taxes.

He said, for example, that his own call for fairness in the tax code — a central tenet of his State of the Union address and his 2012 campaign — is both economically sound and consistent with the teachings of Jesus.

What's your honest opinion on this?

What do you think of people who believe that Mr. Obama is a Muslim?

The Muslim question doesn't concern me. I only care if people use their religion to justify stupid stuff. Like in this case. I think politicians just use our faith against us. They manipulate us.

More proof that politicians say what ever they think will benefit them in a particular setting. But in this case, BHO's lack of knowledge of the Bible shines bright.

It's always been that way. I was always shocked at the people who fell for W's act.

I'll admit that my political views are mostly based on my religious beliefs. I'm an American Christian, not a Christian American.
Then again, I realize that I wouldn't be a very unbiased politician, and should probably stay out of the political arena. I think politicians should do the same. If they have a religious/moral fabric that leads them to where they are, that's super. But if you've chosen a career in politics, you need to be able to separate yourself from that for your job.

Wonder working power........bible belt wet dream

I tend to be conservative but W sacred the hell out of me. My fellow Christians ate it up. I kept asking them, what happened to "you shall be know by your fruit"?
I think BHO does the same thing. He wants Muslims to think he might be Muslim and the Christians to think he might be Christian.
The truth is he is most likely neither.

This is pretty close to where I am as well.

one key difference between W and Obama is that even in 2008, unemployment was a helluva lot lower than it is now and it would probably be even lower if you apply the same fuzzy math Obama is using

Yes. When exactly did underemployment and unemployment become different things?

This is a little more along the lines of 'big picture' but I think this whole move was an attempt to water down the whole birth control issue with mainly the Catholics on his health plan (which in itself is a critical timing error on his part).

You have a vast swath of voters on the Religious Right who were not too keen on voting for the Mormon. I would expect that Obama's team would be smart enough to have taken advantage of this weakness. But the issue with birth control along with the Susan G Komen/Planned Parenthood battle has now galvanized an otherwise passive group of voters that otherwise would have been reluctant to come out and support Romney.

If he wants to make up for this he may need to reword his 'I have seen the light' schtick. Otherwise he's giving freebies to Romney & Co. to help bring more voters to the polls.

Where are all the liberals screaming about the POTUS making policy based on his religious views?

While we're at it, why hasn't he been "glitter-bombed" - his views on gay marriage are no different than Romney's but for some reason Romney is the "homophobe" and Obama isn't.

Would Romney have liquidated DADT?

EDIT: not trying to pull a red herring, but I'd bet Mitt holds a higher level of disdain for the homosexual community than BHO. Marriage is a huge hill to climb for that agenda, and I don't expect gay marriage to be the norm for a good while.
