I see in News-Sentinel that Nick Delmonico tested positive for amphetamine use and was suspended for 50-games. Rest of this season and part of next.

Of course, that drug has been abused in major league baseball for close to 100-years and was the first performance enhancing drugs, especially for some of the hard partying players before quick turnaround day games.

I also see Nick was still in A ball as well. I had hoped he would have advanced faster than that through the ranks but is still listed as the 17th rated prospect in Brewers organization.

The 22-year-old Delmonico was playing for Class A Brevard County of the Florida State League. He was hitting .262 with four home runs and 15 RBIs in 37 games. He was listed as the Brewers' No. 17-ranked prospect.

I also see he missed some time early in season and then later for "personal reasons" that Brewere was confirmed was same each time.

Let's hope he gets his stuff together in and out of baseball.

I'll at least try to be your huckleberry - I know he was pretty badly injured from a slide last year and that set him back some. Also he has taken the amphetamines for years and years for his ADHD. This year he stopped his prescription and notified baseball that he had stopped his prescription, but he was going to finish out the bottle that he had, he was tested - and he tested positive. Had he simply stayed on his prescription - he would have been fine - at least that is my understanding. I am certainly not saying he is perfect, but he is a really a great kid, as are his brothers. You get a whole lot of yes sir and no sir when around those kids - so somebody has done something right. I wish him success, and feel he will be successful in life whether baseball works out for him or not.
