Nick Saban at Bama

Can we all agree that if Saban can't get it done at Bama then they will never return to prominence? It's going to be really embarrassing if he can't get it done after all of this hype and all of the money they are throwing at him.

No pressure or anything.

I agree. If he doesn't get it done I don't think big name schools will be beating down his door anymore. He can move up the road to University of Alabama - Birmingham.

yeah, i'd say that's a fair prospect. they got who they wanted. no more excuses.

and i agree with Gavol even more. 9 wins is great...but if you're bama and you've just changed coaches AGAIN, and he's YOUR GUY....one of those wins better be against Auburn and preferably, one of them better be against TN.

Bama loves to beat us, but they did that 2 years ago. They haven't beaten Auburn in 5 years.

I have trouble understanding why everyone thinks Nick Saban is such a great college coach, and why Alabama would want to make Saban the highest paid college coach. If you look at his college coaching record it's not that impressive IMO:

Saban's had two good season as a college coach; 9-2 (1999, Michigan St) and 13-1 (2003, LSU).

In 1990 he was 9-2 at Toledo but they may not have entered the top 25. LSU won the SEC in 01 and finished the season, 10-3. LSU was 9-3 in 04.

Are the 9-3 and 10-3 seasons that impressive?

Saban's never had an undefeated season and only finished the season ranked in the top 10 twice in 11 seasons. Fulmer's had more top 10 seasons and went undefeated when he won the NC in 98.

He may have gotten fired in 1998 if they didn't beat the Buckeyes...It's also very difficult to build anything at MSU because they are surrounded by ESPN love teams..

Saban is better than Fulmer I hate to say b/c I'm a huge Vol Fan but I'm honest. Mark my words within two - three years they'll beat us 75% of time (if we still got conservative Phil). Saban was in the process of building a dynasty @ LSU ask Les Miles. LSU would have been NC this year if Saban still there (they were most talented team in country this year, Miles is just in over his head). Saban beat us in SEC Champ w/ lameduck QB, Fulmer had a three TD better team and was outcoached badly in that game (story of his career at least once or twice if not 5 times per season).
