If Saban jumps to the NFL, the coaches are going to be coming out of the woodwork to get the LSU job. I can just hear SOS screeching "You mean I could have had the LSU job instead of being stuck here in Columbia?!"

If this goes down, this will be the 4th team on our schedule next year to have a 1st year head coach (ND, FLA, SC, LSU). Amazing!

If this all happens - we ought to have one of the greatest recruiting classes of all time.

News Flash! Straight from ESPN.com

Ed Orgeron, Southern California's assistant head coach and defensive line coach, has agreed to become the new coach at Mississippi, USC athletic department sources have told ESPN.com. Orgeron will be introduced at a news conference Thursday morning in Oxford, Miss.

Is it possible for Ole Miss to go backwards from a 4 win season? I don't think they should have pulled the plug on Cutcliffe 1 year removed from a 10 win season, but I'm hearing that the new guy might actually be a good fit.

May be but he wont win 4 next year.

As for Saban he may very well take the Miami job if offered but I bet it will be after NSD

From what I heard today, the only thing holding up Saban from taking the job is that Miami has to figure out a way to comply with the NFL's minority interview requirement.

He's a better recruiter than coach.
IF he leaves and they promote Jimbo Fisher LSU doesn't miss a beat.

Good news for us if he leaves....He` s a great coach.
:good:

good news for us. bad news for spurrier.

i bet he is just kicking himself if saban leaves and the chance he could have been at lsu instead of sc.

not sure he wanted to but coming into a season with a new team, would you rather have LSU or USC?

lsu seems like a better fit for the visor advisor.

All of us are dreading the inevitable. Most are already thinking of who will replace him. Boy, did anybody watch the Miami game tonight? That was pretty sweet.

In regards to Spurrier, I don't think I would've wanted him at LSU. I don't think I would want ANY former SEC coach to coach there, no matter how good. Just because it wouldn't feel uniquely like an LSU coach. I dunno. Most of the LSU fans I've spoken to have their hopes on Butch Davis, but I think he recently said he wasn't interested, or had other plans, or something. I forget.

Will be interesting if he leaves. I just wish he'd make a quick decision, because it's hurting our recruiting.

if saban leaves i wonder how this year's recruiting will suffer. i know lsu is in top running for that great scramble QB with texas, Ryan Perrilloux and reports on rivals.com that Bryan Evans said the major reason he is going to LSU is nick saban and will leave if saban jumps ship.

on a side note: what is up with UT not going after the highly rated junior college DBs? I see these guys listed as recruits with UT (M. Johnson, D. Morley, A. Wardlow) but all are true freshman.

morely looks like a stud who could play a great FS or an even better CB.

anyone know about marsalous johnson from Smyrna, TN?

The word here in Miami is that Saban is the next coach of the fins even after the big win Bates had last night on MNF over the Pats. The announcement is expected on Wednesday or Thursday. I must say most fins fans aren't too happy about hiring a defensive minded college coach.

Bates has the team playing with a fire that Wannstedt never could get out of them.

They speculated on MNF that it could be possible that they hire Saban, who would in turn keep Jim Bates as DC. Do you think this is a likely scenario?
