This is AWESOME news! She will bring some hmph to this staff and can you imagine her and coach Gordon getting fired up! I’m excited because she has CPS in her while also having that work ethic and don’t lose mentality! Don’t forget she was the NCAA woman of the year! Wasn’t she also one of the first players to really take advantage of graduating early ? Her parents loved CPS nononsense approach because Nickis parents were all business.

We've needed someone like her for a long time. Hopefully Holly won't think she is being to hard on the kids. She expects effort and performance and she can really be a huge help at Tennessee.

Will be a graduate assistant for the team this year.

I hope she gets to work closely with these posts and show them how to bring it every single game.

This is fantastic news. As a player she was constantly getting in the face of her team mates and literally chewing them out in poor performances. She is exactly what is needed to do the same with the players now....CHW certainly never did this when it was obviously needed. Between her and Gordon they will get this team playing up to their capabilities. As a side note, the recruiting of top notch players is the results of Shronna Reaves...not Warlick.

Holly is the head coach. She closes the deals on these recruits. They choose to play for HER. Their parents call HER. This is HER program. The assistants know this. The players know this. The recruits know this. The entire staff should be applauded for the recent recruits, as they have all worked tirelessly to bring these players to Knoxville. Make no mistake though, this is Holly's team.

Who said anything about the recruiting being because of CHW? However I do believe the ladies do understand that CHW is their head coach. But I also know that coach reeves is doing a Helluva job!

Don't understand why Holly need a graduate assistant. Entire staffs on the roster are more than players lol. Are we watching staffs or playing.

It is common practice for people interested in becoming coaches to be graduate assistants. Plus her being a former lady vol it makes sense. Hope that was clear enough for you to understand.

A person within the staff (any position), can impact this team and would have done so last year. I remember watching Nicki, both on the bench and on the court. Just as I do every player.

Gordon played with fire, but I saw very little of it last year on the court and saw none of it transferred into a player.

I know Nicki has a fire in her that seemed unquenchable when she played...
Can she instill this in those around her. ?
In both, staff, and, players!
If she can do this, she will be the missing ingredient.

It is great that Nicky is back with the program but the impact a grad assistant coach can have on a program is pretty small. The NCAA places restrictions on what GA's can do and those in that position have to be very mindful and respectful of the coaching hierarchy.

The role is to gain experience, assist in drills, and help out on morale and team bonding issues. I should be an intangible plus for players to be around someone with Nicky's competitive drive.

I do like this hire. Anosike was a hard nosed competitor and will hopefully help instill this into the current players. That said, as a grad assistant, I'm not sure she'll have a very involved role though so I don't see being that impactful in the grand scheme of things.

I think the can help with scouting, they are involved with practice giving input(I assume she works with and gives input to Dean), and they break down video. She also is super smart so academics is something she can stress and no one can argue. She won’t be allowed to coach on the court during practice but her impact can be felt in other ways than running drills or plays by just bringing her inner leader and giving fresh perspectives (if allowed).

There are no small roles, only small actors.
Your "role" is what you make of it.

Same with coaching and leading ... You either are, or you're not.

Is Nicki the answer?

...Only if she contributes the thing that is missing.
And it can be done from any spot.
You either have the ability to inspire a player to want to perform and win for you...Or you try to lead by inspiring a player to play with you.
There is no defined spot for this role.

Nicki can fill it from where she is.
Getting an athlete to reach higher and then,,, still higher....Can she be the one that inspires them to do so?
