Nico Tampering

80% of the kids in college football are talking with someone about making their situation better. Would not be surprise and I would think Nico entertained calls from other places... That is the world of college athletics now.
About 98% of UT players that are portalling out now missed that part on improving their situation.

hard to know if that is true or not. if Leacock gets more reps at Purdue then he has improved his situation. He was not getting many more reps at Tennessee than he had gotten thus far. If most of them start where they are going, that is improvement of their situation..

I will still cheer for the Vols, but it’s hard to have same depth of loyalty for them, knowing that they are basically hired guns, ready to jump at a better opportunity. Vol for life seems to have been replaced by “show me the money.”
There are certainly some exceptions, but I am not sure how many.

Nico spoke directly with at least three schools, including Georgia and Oregon during the season about what it would take for him to transfer. 100% facts.
If UGA recruits Nico over Stockton, they will lose Stockton and miss the playoff next year. Dude put up great numbers against ND defense without any viable receivers. In his first start ever that happened to be a playoff game against ND. Say what will about Nico, but Stockton looked better in his game and a half with a FCS receiver room than Nico did at any point this year starting 13 games.

I think Nico will be a pretty good qb. But with his performance this year I don't see any team offering him more that he is getting at UT. Now if he has a real good year, they will and we will either have to match or lose him imo
Has it ever been proven what Nico is getting exactly? I don’t mean the mythical $8 million from the West coast “lawyer.”

Sick of hearing your pretend “absolutes” or 100% facts. Prove it. Put your money where your mouth is.

After next year somebody will be gone. Merklinger will be a redshirt soph and MacIntyre will be a redshirt Frosh. Nico will have 1 more year before trying to go to NFL. One will be in the portal for sure.

Contracts, then there is accountability. You want to talk to UGA or UM or OU fine; but I'll sue you for breaching our agreement. IDC if it looks bad... Roast em.
I starting to be convinced that player / school contracts is the answer to this transfer, NIL, contacts issues. This has also been suggested by a couple of reputable folks, Saban being one.

What a mess the NIL is proving itself to be. I'm almost glad I'm being transferred out of reach for access to among other things, college football. I still blame the bigshots wo exploited players for years, while holding the threat of dismissal, and ruined opportunity if they dared to rock the boat. Well, folks, here it is for me.

Side note... In this day and age of NIL money and the transfer portal, if we're not on all our opponents' fan forums starting unsubstantiated threads about who (insert rival marquee player here) is talking to, are we really fans? I mean, aside from the fact that Freak is the only site admin out there who can manage a site that won't make your eyes bleed.

I agree. He can show himself the door as far as I’m concerned.
Seriously? That simply isn't the world we live in. Nico has all the leverage. It's no different than a skilled engineer, lawyer, accountant, etc. with great client relationships. People are going to try to pull them away, and they are going to listen because it's best for them and their family to listen. That doesn't mean they want to leave or that they aren't committed to their current employer/partners. It just means they expect their current employer to keep up with market demands when it comes to compensation, and they are going make sure that happens.

You seem quite the hypocrite. I‘ve read your criticisms of others, including myself, when they have made derogatory comments of other posters yet here you are calling someone FOS. Maybe you should remember to practice what you preach.
I have no idea who you even are. If you like the OP make statements claiming a bunch of BS that damages the program and impeaches the character of the kids in the program then you’re going to get some grief especially if you have no official sourcing to back it up.

Brent Hubbs and Austin Price both have said Nico never requested transfer paperwork or anything like that. If Nico was so anxious to move why didn’t he test the open market? Nico didn’t shop himself out or he would be gone right now. Still some people want to go on a witch hunt for the players loyal to the program and tear them down on social media.

Ponder this...NFL players now have more loyalty to their teams than college players.
I quit watching the NFL because of all the free agency jumping, lack of loyalty, etc.

Well, I agree with your statement and it has more control on personnel movement. I may be switching it up since there is more balance between teams and players in the NFL now than college.

CFB needs to get a plan together or this will all fall apart.

Thinking ahead, Nico has more leverage in the Spring if he wishes to "check the waters" officially because UT will see the other guys in camp vs him. Heupel will really want to keep him at that point.

I wonder if he reached out or the schools reached out. He can't really prevent other schools reaching out and he's crazy not to talk with them when millions may be on the table, but if HE reached out, the Spring may be ugly.

Tampering with players is almost certainly happening and we're probably doing it too, so just saying "it didn't happen" to arguably our best and most critical player doesn't make sense to me.

With the money the guy at Duke got, the QB NIL market probably had a "salary jump" and that's going to make a lot of QBs listen to what's out there and some are probably asking what's out there.

Was it Nico or his handlers? Big difference.
This is a critical point. These guys have agents now whose sole job is to make their player as much money as possible. Not like Nico didn't know about it but he likely wasn't the one having the conversations.

Here's the silver lining.... people know how much potential he has! 🥴

I have no doubt somebody around Nico may have been contacted by somebody remotely connected to another collective. But guess what… that happens every day. I got contacted by my competition last week just to see where my head is.

Posting about a hypothetical conversation with some guy about something nobody can prove is just a cry for ecred.

Yep.

If he’s not requesting paperwork to enter the portal I doubt very seriously there was much reaching out on his end. Really fun to drag kids through the mud for some people like the OP.

I don't think he's dragging Nico. Perhaps teams contacted Nico and he talked to them. In his position, that's "the right read" for him to make.

Are you saying you'd think less of Nico because he got contacted and talked to people? Why?

I'll agree on that and disagree with the original poster about that but it doesn't mean he didn't hear what he posted.

The same poster got the Saban retiring correct and doubled down on it when he got roasted here. He never backed off on what he said he'd heard and took a victory lap when he was right. It's not like he posts a bunch of "I heard this" threads.

@VolCalls: what's up with dragging Nico for just being contacted and talking? A bunch of people in businesses get headhunter calls and talk whether they're interested in leaving or not. What's up with the "he can hit the door" attitude?

Stockton was pedestrian and I am not sure where you are getting that FCS receiver room.
