Great read, and makes me feel even more confident about our future because Spyre is the best run, most organized and most forward-thinking collective in the game. And the good news is that we as fans can contribute to what they're doing - complementing Heupel and Co's tremendous recruiting with the best NIL packages out there - by becoming members of and contributing to The Vol Club.

We've got an opportunity as a program to skip half a decade in program building right now. UT football has the wind at its back after last season and the enthusiasm that has generated in the portal and on the trail. There is zero reason we can't have a roster that looks like Bama's and UGA's and OSU's - in fact, we're going head to head with all of those programs for the large majority of our board. If we give our all for Tennessee individually we can make that quantum leap as a program.

Something to consider as you spend your time reading the Tennessee Vols Recruiting Forum on Vol Nation.

NIL is a joke. Bribing high-schoolers to sign with your school? This system is plainly corrupt.

If you were actually ever a varsity athlete at a D1 school like Tennessee, you'd know that it's a full time job... plus classes.

Compensating kids is the right thing to do, plus it addresses the reality that star recruits were being paid under the table anyway.

I'm glad these kids are more comfortable and can afford to live without being 99% dependent on the school or having to conduct illicit activities to afford basic amenities.

I will admit, $8 million for a kid is pretty ridic, but we as a society have spent insanely more money on way more frivolous crap. Besides, its cutting our rebuild time down significantly (and the portal too), so bully for us.

Well said. It’s the way of the world now, and we can either continue to be a leader in the space and get back to being an elite program or not.

Any compensation system that takes power away from SOB's like Saban can't be all bad.
