Fox News says
According to OutKick, Nick Saban had no problems letting a top recruit and one of his own players go recently after they asked for over $1 million combined from the school.

NIL?
We don't need no stinkin NIL.
I am hiring conehead bagman.
We just bought him a new F150 to carry the cash.

I despise Nick Saban but can’t fault him on this. You can’t have kids trying to hold you for ransom. Asking for NIL money is one thing. We can get you into contact with the collective. But asking to get your girlfriend into law school on a free ride should be against the law. It is out of hand.

The school doesn’t pay players.
Simple mistake.
I know how NIL works, yet I have typed "the school paid" or "money from the school" in the Rashada thread. The NIL collective has to be extremely coordinated with the football staff.
We all know what the poster meant.

I don’t believe everyone does know. I hear callers on local sports radio literally asking what is the school going to pay player A. Some people do know and are just being loose with their wording, others are still confused.

I agree with Saban on this one. The problem is you are going to see more and more of this. Your last sentence is dead on.

I read the story this morning and my take was that someone from the player's high school was asking for $800,000.00, paid to them, not the player, to sign with Alabama. And the other one, pay for my girlfriend to go to law school, free of charge, wouldn't that be like, extortion?
