NLI vs. NIL?

Amateur status in athletics is over. Not saying it’s right or wrong, I’m just saying it’s over. I believe the passion that fans have for collegiate sports will diminish. I hope I’m wrong.
That's why I have more of an interest in watching the military academy teams now than in the past.

I don’t want to ever hear the term “student athlete” ever again. They are now paid, free agent athletes, and that is fine. Now college football and the players know where they stand.
Sell any TV and radios you have. Your cellphones too. Lock your doors, admit no visitor, draw the blinds, stuff er plugs in your ear. Otherwise, you will hear the term "student athlete" again. Doing my best to help a fellow Vols fan. :)

I was being somewhat facetious, but I do appreciate the professional opinion of a fellow Vol fan. lol

That ignores the facts that college athletes still have to be students.

Athlete revenue sharing funding is essentially risky no different than paying graduate assistants (athletic ir academic) or college employees working on degrees.

Something tells me that may change soon. I can see where the athletes will say they are being paid to play a sport...not to go to class.

Reminds me of a student football player, I believe he was from Ohio State - "I didn't come here to play school"!

The closer college Football gets to be like the NFL the worse it will be. College Football is now owned by the billionaire elites. They only care about how much more money and control they can get. Adding the two minute warning was only added to add more commercials to a college football game. Someday a player may decide to sit out a game in protest of his NIL contract. It's already occurring in Bowl games.

Grad assistants AGREE to those terms because they want the education and GA money/positions are not that easy to get.

With athletes, the power and skill is in their hands. The school wants them, not the other way around, so if you won't meet the terms, they have lots of other options at other schools.

GAs accept lousy workloads and lousy pay because there's 5 other potential GAs who will take the crap if they don't. Athletes will just market their services elsewhere.
