I can somewhat side with the AD here: your reward for one of the best seasons in school history is a trip to lovely Shreveport (about as scenic as Toledo, OH) against an in-state opponent. However, the players deserve a bowl game. Embarrassing for the university.

Also, as if there was any chance of Sonny Dykes staying, this ended it:

They were waiting on a better bowl and the Independence decided to take a different team. Has to suck to go 9-3 and the only bowl to offer you is an hour down the road.

According to Twitter, LT's AD is denying they turned down any bowl bid.

They didn't. They wanted the (Independence?) bowl to extend the deadline to make a decision so that La Tech could see if they got a better bowl. The deadline ran out, and the Bowl chose Iowa State to replace La Tech. La Tech then missed out on all the other bowls.
