Mike Hamilton has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him as the University of Tennessee men’s athletic director through June 30, 2011. An official announcement is expected within a few days, according to a source close to the negotiations.

I guess he got that due to Coach Pearl's success. Here's hoping the football program will follow up with equal or better success and we will be able to cannonize Mike with others accomplishments.

Hamilton is the Pearl giver. I have no problems with him right now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the cannonization of Mike Hamilton. I believe he is a hard nosed administrator who only has the best interests of Tennessee as his only focus!

Very good. Brought us Pearl, has kept girls basketball well funded with top talent, and even though football was down last year, overall it has done well. Lets not forget ladies softball, mens baseball (scratch this year), and track.

I'd attribute the women's success to the Women's Athletic Dept.

That being said, I think Mike is doing a pretty good job w/ the men's dept.

and I guess THATS why I don't come around much. I know as much about The vols as Bush knows about the United States.

Business administrators are not eligible for sainthood under any circumstances... :D

That being said, Hamilton has done a very solid job. Continuing with facilities upgrades, solid hiring in The Pearl (and the Weeklys? Was that him?), and an "out front" presence that I appreciate in an AD.

Mike is that new breed of CEO/AD that major colleges must have these days, and he is performing well. Good to see him rewarded for the effort.

Joan Cronan is the Women's AD and would have been responsible for the Weekly's hiring along with any other women's coaches on staff. Just to clarify.

One bad point....he woudn't send the full band to the Florida game last year in Gainesville. Hopefully, that will never happen again. When UT goes to Florida, the full band should be there to represent our great University!

No one is noticing.....Someone else's contract expires in 2011.

*Movin On Up* plays in my head.

Fulmer Haters Beware....I sense a promotion coming in about 6 years.

I have little problem with CPF becoming the AD. IMO that office should be reserved for washed up coaches who have nothing left to offer but a sentimental connection to past successes.

I know you were making funny, but AD is not a job for ex head coaches to slide into anymore. Programs the size of Tennessee are gonna be hiring the CEO's from here on out....
