The second game in an OOC agreement between the two schools made back in 2015 so that the two could meet more than once every 6 years for traditionally a part of each team’s schedule.

This has the makings to potentially be a high scoring game with both Sam Howell and Sam Hartman at QB for each team.

It’s been a series that has gone back and forth since conference went to 14 teams.

UNC won in 2020, 2015, and 2011; Wake Forest won in 2019 and 2012. Neither has won two meetings in a row since that point.

The last meeting was last season, in which UNC won 59-53 in a game that wasn’t really as close as the end score indicates.

How is a #9 undefeated team considered the -2.5 underdog?

Recent history

Mack Brown is 1-1 vs Wake Forest since coming back to UNC.

Clawson is 2-3 vs UNC since taking over at Wake Forest.

Also - though this tends to be the norm in games between these two types of schools - but Wake Forest’s wins (when they do win) have been by slimmer margins (like 1-6 points).

Wake Forest recovers a fumble at the UNC 40 by Ty Chandler on the first play of the game.

Edit: play stands

Wake Forest tries to rush up to the ball after getting to the UNC 1, suffer an illegal formation penalty from not getting set and trying to go too quickly.

Hartman gets sacked trying to run it on 2nd and 5.

Incomplete on 3rd and goal from the 10.

Wake Forest has to settle for a FG to make it 3-0 after the first drive.

UNC running at will the next drive and even forces a defensive hold by Wake Forest.

Wake can’t seem to tackle Sam Howell, as he eludes them and runs for a 1st down on 3rd and 10.

And UNC just runs over them to score the next drive and make it 7-3 UNC.

Wake Forest’s timing seems off today. The last pass hit the referee.

And UNC is ALL up in Hartman’s face each play.

And Wake commits a false start.

Hartman runs it in from 10 yards out. 10-7 Wake Forest with 6:46 left in the first

First punt of the game. Wake sacked again the first play after.

Hartman feels the pressure again on his next throw. And Hartman throws it right to UNC in a basic zone.

The pressure’s already in Sam’s head.

2nd play after the pick. Sam Howell escapes 2 WF players, and then escapes amidst another 4 WF defenders for a TD.

14-10 UNC with 3:29 left in the 1st.

Wake almost gets the 1st on 2nd and 3, but another hold. So now it’s 2nd and 9 at midfield.

Now that’s a target. It was inadvertently, but crown of the helmet to the QB while he’s going down.

Yup. But it's still a contradiction to Target inadvertently. That's why it's a silly rule regardless
