Pretty neat story I remember reading about it several years back. Very believable. Ive gone climbing and canyoneering on LSD. It definitely improves your ability to see holds and routes out there. So to me its not that far-fetched to think it can give a pitcher a distinct mental advantage; especially if the guy was experienced. LSD does funny things to your eyes in particular it makes you see micro details with better clarity than when you were sober. For example, watching a skateboarder doing a kick flip. If you watch sober the board sort of just blurs by. But if you watch it on LSD, you can see the board flipping over quite clearly when compared to before. Your eyes are experiencing more stimulus than before, thus they are interpreting that information at a faster rate. This allows you to see things in slow motion, in a sense.

I find the idea of climbing on LSD terrifying.

Had he been on shrooms, he would have freaked out around the 5th or 6th inning and hid under the dugout bench for the rest of the game

After seeing so many bad trips in the late 60's and early 70's I have a hard time believing the dose he pitched on was anything like 60's kids took. In AIT a dude took two yellow sunshine and watched armys of plastic soldiers do battle on their floor then turn to green blood washing up and down against the barracks walls while he screamed. That's why I steered clear of that sh!t. The first time I even knew anyone personally who did it I chased him up and down The Strip trying to keep him out of trouble. Clinical Blue, Black Om, Yellow Sunshine, Orange Windowpane those names are not attached to happy memories. .... Maybe the dosing is lots weaker now. I don't know. I do know it frickin' fried the brains of several. One just drove up I-40 towards Crossville, parked and killed himself. Sure that don't hsppen unless there's underlying stressors they say, but who really knows?

Didn't mean to get morbid. Just from the years after Nam I was going 100 miles an hour with my hair on fire.

I believe you about the 60s/early 70s LSD.

Ive take some of the best LSD available at Burning Man / Rainbow Gathering. Seen a handful of "bad" trips and hundreds of normal trips. Bad trips usually involve someone getting VERY confused about why they are hallucinating and left nearly unable to communicate (until the trip starts to wear off)...or if someone gets lost that can lead to a bad trip, seen it happen as well. What you describe sounds like an inexperienced army man dropping L in a bad environment, nothing more nothing less. The LSD today isnt as potent as it was in the 60s and 70s but thats only because other synthetic chemicals like the 2CE class are flooding the market, causing dealers to regulate their product better. No more double and triple doses like you heard about in the 60s and 70s. Back then it was highly unregulated (in terms of dosage). You can still get the pure LSD fairly easy and testing it (with an actual test kit) takes no more than a minute. As far as I know, LSD has stayed pretty much the same in terms of dose strength even since ol' Hofmann discovered it in 43. One drop or 25 mcg does the trick. The 60s were definitely a different time. :cool2:

It's terrifying at first especially if you are about to rappel or fall. Beyond that it was a very tranquil experience.

If he can handle LSD in front of a big crowd at a baseball game, then he can handle shrooms. I find shrooms and LSD to be incredibly similar at times. The biggest difference with shrooms is that sometimes you lose your stomach.

Now if he was on ayahuasca or eboga...yeah...he might have no choice but to hide from the crowd.
