Couldn't get a top notch QB to commit? Just not long enough to build a relationship with someone?

Yes. Top notch QBs tend to commit early. Butch went after 4star Drew Barker who decided to stay home and play at Kentucky and he finished 2nd place behind Saban for 5star David Cornwell from Oklahoma.

That being said, despite all the gnashing of teeth regarding our QB play this season (mine included), this staff thinks they have 2 very good potentially SEC winning caliber QBs in Dobbs and Fergy.... it's too early for any of us to make a definitive judgment at this point IMHO.

We all can bet they're heavy after signing a couple top QBs for the 2015 class.

We have 4 QB! At least 1 of them should be good enough to win the starting job and win. We need recruits else where to fill holes and build talent..

Considering all of the success that he has had thus far in recruiting every other position, Butch will secure an elite quarterback in the 2015 class. Here are some of the top prospects in that class:

(1) Kevin Dillman, Pro-style QB. Ht: 6-4, Wt. 205. La Miranda, CA (La Miranda High School). Rivals 5.9 (4 star) rating; has offer from Tennessee.

(2) Torrance Gibson, Dual-Threat Quarterback. Ht: 6-4, Wt: 195. Fort Lauderdale, FL (American Heritage). Rivals 5.9 (4 star) rating; does not have offer from Tennessee, according to Rivals.com.

(3) Jauan Jennings, Dual-threat quarterback, Ht: 6-3, Wt: 180. Murfreesboro, TN (Blackman). Rivals 5.8 (4 star) rating; has offer from Tennessee.

(4) De'Andre Johnson, Pro-style quarterback. Ht:6-2, Wt: 178. Jacksonville, FL (First Coast). Rivals 5.8 (4 star) rating; committed to Florida State on 7/20/12.

(5) Kyle Kearns, Pro-style quarterback. Ht: 6-3, Wt: 184. Pleasanton, California (Foothill). Rivals 5.8 (4 star) rating; does not have offer from Tennessee, according to Rivals.com.

(6) Drew Lock, Pro-style quarterback. Ht: 6-3, Wt: 195. Lee's Summit, Missouri (Lee's Summit). Rivals 5.8 (4 star) rating; has offer from Tennessee.

(7) Lorenzo Nunez, Dual-Threat Quarterback. Ht: 6-2.5, Wt: 183. Kennesaw, GA (Harrison). Rivals 5.9 (4 star) rating; has offer from Tennessee.

(8) Tyler Queen, Pro-Style Quarterback. Ht: 6-2.5, Wt: 233. Kennesaw, GA (North Cobb). Rivals 5.8 (4 star) rating; committed to Auburn as of 7/10/13.

(9) Josh Rosen, Pro-Style Quarterback. Ht: 6-4, Wt: 205. Bellflower, CA (St. John Bosco HS). Rivals 6.1 (5 star) rating; has offer from Tennessee.

(10) David Sills, Pro-style quarterback. Ht: 6-3, Wt:179. Elkton, Maryland (Eastern Christian Academy). Rivals 5.8 (4 star) rating; committed to USC on 3/5/12.

(11) Jarrett Stidham, Dual-threat quarterback. Ht:: 6-2, Wt:188. Stephenville, Texas (Stephenville HS). Rivals 6.0 (4 star) rating; has offer from Tennessee.

(12) Ricky Town, Pro-style quarterback. Ht: 6-4, Wt: 190. Ventura, California (St. Bonaventure). Rivals 6.0 (4 star) rating; committed to Alabama on 8/5/13.

Next year's roster will have a senior (Worley) a junior ( Peterman) a sophomore (Dobbs) a redshirt freshman (ferguson) right?

We should be fine with the 4 we have. Talent is there if CBJ and his staff can actually do better in development than this year. Now the only concern is if any transfer. I don't see Dobbs (because of the degree he is seeking) or Worley transferring. So it'll all depend on where peterman feels he is at, and if The Fergs believes he is going to to be above Dobbs on the chart. Burning his redshirt will only hamper his chances of transferring at this pt if CBJ believes that's an option he has thought of. Other than that keeping the redshirt for the future can only benefit us.

Getting a QB to commit this year would have been tough having at least one RS frosh QB and a SR, RS JR, and true soph on next yrs team. Now CBJ and Co need to step it up next year on the field if we don't want to have this same type of convo next year. This 6 win season being Ok talk isn't going to get us looked at by top players unless next year has a freakishly high # of talented TN kids and legacies like this year.

VR why recruit pro style QBs to run a read option O?

Butch would have to answer that question for you. I would think, however, that his initial strategy is to "carpet bomb" the field of available candidates and, if he can't get a top-tier dual-threat quarterback, adjust as need dictates later to the skill sets of pro-style quarterbacks who are seriously interested in Tennessee.

This is one of my biggest concerns for the future of our program. While i don't think its fair, our fan base will be calling for change after three years without wins and i think we can all agree next year will be similar or worse than this year in the win column. Therefore, CBJ will need a QB that can win in Year 3. Hopefully we can develop our current crop (we should cut dobbs some slack he is extremely young) plus we haven't even seen riley but it makes you wonder if not taking a QB this yr could be our coaching staffs downfall if our QBs don't play up to everyones expectations

Lots of pro-style. I thought Butch was trying to run the spread. We need a dual threat right?

Dobbs or Ferguson will come threw, you got to remember that Dobbs is a true Freshman, so he will improve and he will have Ferguson pushing him, I have seen enough of Worley and Peterman to show me that they cant take us to the next level so we really got 2 and hope to pull out a rabbit in the hat on NSD.:)Is Ferguson just as fast as Dobbs, you cant run the spread with a QB RUNNING A 5.2 40.
