The CFP committee will not put a two loss Alabama or Tennessee in the playoffs no matter what happens next weekend.

Georgia, Michigan, and TCU are in even if they lose next weekend. The final spot is between USC and Ohio State. If USC wins, they are in. If they lose, Ohio State with one loss is in.

The Big Ten and national media would lose their minds if a two loss Alabama made the playoffs. Not going to happen.

If TCU loses I think Ohio State gets in over them.

Agreed. But I don’t see any path for Bama or us
Not us but if TCU and USC lose I could see Bama sneaking in. Maybe. It would come down to 1-loss TCU against 2-loss Bama. Neither would be conference champs so would Bama’s SOS overcome TCU having 1 less loss? It would be close.

I can’t see it happening. Bama didn’t win any of their high strength of schedule games

It’s a tough argument. TCU didn’t play any high profile teams but they beat a bunch of decent teams. But if they can’t take care of business against Kansas State should they really be in? What would be interesting is you know game control comes up a lot with TCU but Bama did have a lot of close games too. Now they led most of those versus TCU being behind a lot but Bama didn’t dominate like they have in the past.

Side note: Dadgum Cadillac screwed me yesterday by kicking that late FG and trying the onside kick. Why didn’t he go for it on 4th and 7 needing a miracle to win anyway? Bizarre decision and that allowed Bama to score again. Of course had the officials not crapped the bed on the punt the Auburn player never touched it would’ve been closer.

Nessler and GaryD were banging the drum big time for Bama getting in during the Iron Bowl yesterday.

Why would you put a 2 loss Bama team in over a 2 loss Tennessee team that beat Bama and LSU?

Agreed. Especially if TCU gets blown out then maybe Bama jumps them.

I don't see Michigan surviving a loss to 8-4 Purdue. UGA loses to LSU - well maybe they can survive that. TCU plays Kansas State, who may sneak into the top 10 given what happened with Clemson and Oregon. TCU wins or loses closely, they may survive. TCU loses badly, not so sure. USC plays Utah - the team that beat them once. They win there are in - they lose they become a 2 loss team.

As for OSU, it depends upon how far the committee drops them. This was a beat down by Michigan at OSU. They should drop at least 4 spots which would take them to 6. Some team will need to take that number 5 spot and it will be a team that is not playing - so can't lose next week. That 5 spot is the team that could sneak in, if TCU or USC or Michigan or UGA slips up next Saturday.

I love chaos so would love to see all four of those teams lose. :) It would be interesting to see if the committee takes the "easy way out" and just looks at number of losses or actually uses other criteria to make a decision.

I wouldn’t but I think the committee would. I know we have the worst loss between the 2 of us but we also have the better wins and that game didn’t get really crazy score-wise until Hooker got hurt.

Bama has a decent chance. They need a little help but not a lot.

If we have any pathway to get in, we’ll find out Tuesday when we see where the committee puts us in relation to bama. Both our regular season bodies of work are complete. I’m not holding my breathe though

Where they place OSU, Bama and TN will be key. Those three teams, unless the committee just goes crazy should occupy the 5 - 7 slots. Could be:

- OSU, Bama, TN
- Bama, OSU, TN
- Bama, TN, OSU
- OSU, TN, Bama
- TN, OSU, Bama
- TN, Bama, OSU

And I just want the best bowl game at this point with a quality opponent. :) Though I suspect had we beat SC, we all would be arguing about whether we or USC or OSU was number 4 and I can guarantee you it probably would be USC just because.

I don't think the playoff committee even considers UT in the running since Hooker is out for the season. Ut is not a top 4 team without him. The bowls look at things from a ticket sales perspective so with the way the Vols travel they should be a top choice.

Yup, but I feel pretty certain OSU will end up 5. This could get interesting

Georgia and Michigan are in.

TCU is likely in no matter what.
USC is in if they win.

Ohio State will only have one loss and is likely the #4 if USC loses to Utah.

I really don’t see either TCU or USC losing. Utah isn’t beating USC twice, plus the college football gods will ensure the Heisman winner plays in the playoffs and TCU has come this far. They aren’t losing to K-State. They will both be in and Bama/OSU/UT are out. The playoff rankings in the majority of years have drama in weeks 9-13, but after championship week, it is mostly no drama.
