Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

If Angel was "exhausted" it wasn't from basketball activities. This was months after the season. She was just out of shape, lazy, and didn't give a shi*t about repping her country. She was awful the whole tourney, and to her credit, said so. So did Kim; she said she was worried about AR and FJ's lack of bball work while they raked in NIL cash over the summer. I believe this whole episode is what led to AR's early season run in w Mulkey. Truthfully AR was only still starting in Mexico at this point bc of who she was and bc Kami Etheridge had no balls. Kamilla, sharp, motivated and in great shape, basically ate AR's lunch and threw up in the bag.

OTOH, the player who had reason to be exhausted was RIckea. She and Jewel literally got off the plane from Europe and on the plane to Mexico. And yet, note the very first words on this Twitter clip are "At this point you just give the ball to RIckea Jackson and let her operate." And operate she did, carried the team the whole tourney. This is why RJ is probably a lottery pick and AR is late first round at best.

IMO AR comes back next year and having learned a hard, embarrassing lesson last summer, and looking at the 25 W draft, will work harder to develop her offensive game.

I expect AR to be much better against Kamilla tonight. Better shape, more motivated and better supporting cast.. I still think KC is a more skilled post player.

I wish both could lose, but I think SC's depth is too much and they win by about 10 or 12.
Well I was trying to be nice

Just going on what people are saying on here, South Carolina has no business losing this game at all, they say they are overwhelming favorites and nobody has a chance because of their talent.
I cannot find any posts that said anything even remotely close to that.

Bookies saying Sc by 9.5 and the over under is 151.5 I think I would go with the over on this one. I can't see it being a defensive battle especially with the possession count for the season being LSU 97 a game and SC 86. I don't think either will probably reach their possession total of the season but hard to not see 75 a team depending on offensive rebounds, steals, and turnovers. So you figure out of 75 just 40 percent would be 30 field goals and at least 7 threes being conservative would be 67 points and then free throws 77 so that would give you 154 if both teams just shot 40 percent and went about minus 15 each of their average possession per game this season. I think 154 is very conservative for the total amount of points surprised they have at 151.5

I felt the same way when we were a 44.5 favorite over Kentucky. I thought...no way we beat Kentucky by 44.5 points....but we won by 62. I know less than those bookies for sure.
I really wouldn't compare this one to Kentucky in any way. We slept walked through a quarter and a half then beat them by 35 points in about the last 16 minutes of the game. If we'd played at just the same intensity we easily beat them by 50 and I really thought we would win by close to that before the game began. When we finally started guarding them they shot about 20 percent for the last sixteen minutes. The point being Kentucky is a terrible team this season. I expect them to finish last in the SEC. I am totally surprised that they have won two games.

Right. Tennessee’s margin of victory will always be misleading because they play so up and down.

LSU and South Carolina beat up on common opponents.. but when they get in a close game they tend to lose for instance like the LSU vs AUB game or look vulnerable like SC vs NC.

Tonight, I don’t know who will win but either way the team that does come out with the victory could very well get caught up in a trap game or two during SEC play.

This is not a preview of the SEC championship or Final Four/Nat’l championship as some people will inaccurately throw out tonight.

Hope both teams take it one game at a time.

Games like the LSU vs Sc have some variables. Like who is going to get two fouls early and have to sit out. How are the Refs going to call the game. Bayou Barbie has some flop in her so you have to be careful getting to close when she defends you. She isn't to the degree of the greatest of all time Washington of Vanderbilt, but she knows how to take one for the team.

Just a couple of posts I found.

SC win back double digits

If South Carolina can’t beat LSU by atleast 20 we already know they eventually going to fold. LSU ain’t the real deal...

South Carolina women's basketball is just on another level

Everybody loses they had way more talent than Iowa last season and lost. UCLA and their men's 9 titles lost games along the way. We lost to Vanderbilt last season on a last second shot in a men's game. You can lose on the road it is happening every week.
Sounds like people are coming up with excuses if they lose, So if Lsu beats them and Sc wins the championship without beating LSU, would u consider Sc winning by luck if they didn’t play Lsu in the tournament?

Hey I read this thread pretty regularly & I don't remember seeing anyone saying that SC is the overwhelming favorite OR that LSU doesn't have a chance. If anything most are saying the game could go either way.
I've seen a few posts, when u are a double digit favorite on the road, that’s saying u are an overwhelming favorite. Everyone on here says Sc has the better roster by far, so no reason they should lose if that’s the case.

Then as previously stated Big East would only have 9 as 3 of UCONN's would go to the AAC.

Just let them have the 12-12 tie.

Sounds a lot better than UCONN 11 vs. SC 2.

Lots of SC mega-flexing going on right now. Surly the Gamecocks are so prolifically successful that they could afford to have their own chat site.

I checked around today. Not much out there.
Garnet and Black Attack ain’t buying in…

So funny to see the ultra rich try to out "underdog" the other on Twitter. Neither LSU nor SC are the victims they work so hard to claim to be. That's SO trite and predictable. I'd think vet coaches like Kim and Dawn could come up w something less laughable than "us against the world" but whatever. Fun as the game will be, it's one game in mid-January. A loss hurts LSU more, but it's not the end of the world for either.
