Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

Both taking advantage of her popularity.

The longer-term question is whether this time next year she will still be the focus.

They are hoping viewership from the NCAA will translate to the WNBA - we'll see - they play in the wrong time of the year - most will be tuned into baseball.
or just grilling out, paddle boarding, and drinking beer away from tvs. It’s the best time of the year, and it’s a hard sell to convince me I should be watching tv indoors!

Me? I like Coach Yo. Sure, she kinda has a kind of a hustler vibe going on which is possibly what some find a little off-putting, but I see and feel her passion for the game and for coaching. She tries to project a lot of self-confidence, but the hiring of Handsy McHillsman kinda says maybe she’s not. Or maybe I’m totally wrong.

I thought she was okay and I liked her enthusiasm. The Hillsman hire is a head scratcher at best. I can’t believe the Ole Miss AD signed off on that.

This sick f*** is very responsible for this and need to be held accountable

Something is wrong with him mentally. If you Google him, he has been saying and doing weird things like this the past few years. There was a big incident with his children's mother also. He played in the NFL for many years and maybe the impact has did something to him. Not excusing his behavior, but he is not okay in the head.

Even if you remove all my years of UConn hate there is still nothing I find interesting about Paige Bueckers.

I find her game boring, her personality is like half dried paint in interviews and mostly she just makes tik toks for social media clout.

Hard to believe she and Caitlin Clark are the same age because the maturity gulf between the two is massive.

In other news apparently NSFW images of Buckers were leaked and all the UConn fans are freaking out that she was “outed.” Wouldn’t have even known it happened if not for all the UConn fan accounts posting about it.

Even if AB feels that way, why post that about CC pubically? I mean in front of friends in private not a problem. But to actually hit send is just embarrassing. I've done my fair share buzzed hitting send as well, but I am not a public figure.
He is not okay in the head and something is seriously wrong with him.

Well, I’ve seen it implied that they aren’t real, which would make this the second athlete this has happened to. AI has far outpaced regulation. Even if it is real, it’s revenge porn which is more easily handled within the criminal justice system. It’s actually horrific young women are having to deal with this rather than just focus on school and ball.

This x1000. Real or not this is horrifying that it’s happening.

TBH these past few seasons have brought a lot of f-ing sick and/or weird people out of the woodwork. I pray for these college athletes.

Precisely. And if it’s real, we can also have a convo about what forcibly outing does to young people. It’s rarely good in the short term. We know suicide rates among kids and young adults are higher than ever, and this just fuels a true mental health crisis. If anything, we should be circling the wagons around these players. I just read an article this morning about how boys in high school are using “nudifying” apps on their girl classmates and female teachers. How horrific. My heart really goes out to Paige, her family, and her teammates as they try to reconcile what kind of sick individual would violate her (and the other players targeted this season) this way.

AI is pretty terrifying to me actually. Truly think we need laws around its use asap.

I’m seeing it more and more in marking along with the AI generated filters etc. it should be be illegal to sell skincare products using models with filters. At the very least there needs to be a disclosure like there is on TV commercials “paid actors were used for this promotion.”

It’s just inherently dishonest.

I pray the complete addiction to social media can somehow be broken, or at least cracked. I realize clicks are money for a few of these kids, but is it worth it? By the end of the season Angel Reese didn't seem to think so. Please, please, for the love of God, consider putting the phone down! The number of kids and parents who refuse to consider that option, thereby letting the phone control them instead of vice versa, is gobsmacking.

The LV softball team watched The Social Network and took a pledge to limit social media use in season. They've said it's the best thing they ever did. The Iowa WBB team did the same thing, but Gabby Marshall appears to have cheated and got a very bad result for it. I remember after the WNBA draft last year, Diamond DeShields posted a couple of times (ironically to post this of course) that the best advice she had for draftees going into training camp was to stay off social media.

If it's toxic and dangerous and makes you feel bad about yourself and even suicidal, the fact that quitting isn't an option is just insane. Keep texting, family and friend pages, and team group chats but throw the rest away!

Terrifying for sure, bc it just cements the widespread nilihistic notion that nothing is true, no one is honest, everyone is the same degree of bullsh*t. Literally can't believe anything, even if you see it. No unifying core truths is a death sentence for any society.

Antonio Brown should be in an institution. Of all the nasty professional athletes in this country Brown leads the pack as the sickest. Check out his bio on Wiki.
