Yep, being able to successfully recruit and sign the top talent every year is huge if you want to win a championship. And so is having a coaching staff that knows what to do with all that talent. You're not as likely to win a championship without strong coaching.

But after decades of following primarily women's basketball, I learned long ago that no coach, and no program, ever wins a national championship without the #1 most important ingredient to success on the final day off the season:

Luck.

Even the best coaches with the best players aren't in that championship game if bad luck has left their roster decimated by injury. Or if critical calls here and there just never seemed to go their way. Championship winning teams have good luck when it counts most. Always.

We agree about systemic racism. It's pervasive. That said, consumer culture is color blind, shafting those who can least afford it regardless of race. It's a problem of economic strata, reverse Robbin Hoodism. A Venn diagram would show racial overlap with poverty, but for all
races.

I wonder why they continue to get so much respect? Because of Crooks? Fennelly?

As I keep saying, it IS still way early, and I suppose they could improve dramatically by March. But at his point they definitely look mediocre at best.

Realizing there are people that actually believe Geno is thinking ahead to the Tennessee game with games against USC, Notre Dame, South Carolina, and others upcoming on the schedule, reminds me of a clip from married with children.

They were ranked in the Top 25 based on where they finished last season and returning starters. What do you think the criteria for ranking teams should be because I have read that neither Kansas St. or Iowa St. shouldn't have been ranked.

Are you willing to say the same thing about Pat Summitt? She had the best players at the time. Could her teams have won without her as you suggest about Dawn? If not...you are a hypocrite because they are both the same. Pat had the best players and now Dawn has the best players.

Crooks is a talent but they have nothing to go with her and she is not physically fit enough to carry them. Really thought we might see her in better shape this season. She was looking good by tourney time last year but doesn’t look like she did any conditioning in the off season.

Teams can collapse on her and they don’t have an answer. Brown is decent but always in foul trouble when I watch them play.

Crooks should transfer somewhere that will take her development seriously. She could be Paris like but isn’t getting what she needs at IS. Texas would be great for her. Vic would make her a monster.

They shouldn’t even do them until week 6 imo. Even then they are questionable. Dont really know what’s up until February for most teams.
