The way we played last night I am concerned.
Here we go again. Chicken or egg. When we recruit athletic players (Wynn, Miles, etc) they tend to lack necessary offensive skills, such as shooting. When we recruit skills players (Darby) they lack athleticism. The answer is say, Rickea Jackson, who has plenty of both. Our problem is RJs don't grow on trees, and the ones that do haven't wanted to play here in a while. Meanwhile, our coach works with a shuffling deck of limited players. We lack athletes outside of JH and RJ….less talented but more athletic teams will expose our weakness/lack of quickness.
Once again, totally don't see lack of effort or desire. At all. From anyone. Poor play and/or being overmatched does not mean they didn't want or try to do better. Do you actually think any of those kids playing 45 mins of basketball on a school night in the hellhole of Starkville, Miss didn't care? Wanted to look bad on TV? I will never understand this claim.Biggest issue for me last night was our lack of desire to get a stop. Particularly from the guards. So many olay defense layups and missed defensive assignments. Total lack of desire and effort.

IMO missing on elite recruits is about not having marquee wins and not sniffing a championship of any kind in a decade or so. Perception of the program as "used to be good". That's why this season is such a painful blow. Should have been a chance to change that, but so far just reinforcing it.Is the answer recruiting misses to fit your style of play or not changing system to fit players? Based on how you laid it out, seems like it’s both.

For whatever the reason for this season not living up to expectations it still will have a domino effect on other seasons with our coach. the top recruits are not going to take a chance on her now you got to get a name just so recruits can say I want to play with her just because of who the coach is and dismiss that LV tree unless it’s our polarizing star from the W (Catchings) other than that get a big name or else it’s Dawn vs Mulkey fighting it out for top recruits that want to play in the SEC
I've noticed a bit of a softer tone the last couple of days. You know we're in the crapper when Darth feels sorry for us.
I brought this up as to why Geno is beginning to get more disliked than ever and UConn posters here didn't like it much. Really though are you going to say another team beat you up and the Refs let them do it. That was a classless remark JMO just accept that you lost sometimes and move on.Geno has been barking a lot more the past 5-6 years…..this season in particular. After every loss (or even a close first half like the UT game) he has had something to whine about. It’s below him tbh, and I think Dawn handled that latest Geno insult with dignity.
