Are we talking about Kara? That's a bit over analytical of her personally for me. I just didn't like watching her play for some irrational reason. I did like her as a commentator though. Go figure.glv98, she has always struck me as possibly just a tad over the AS spectrum-y line. Know what I mean? The type who is smart as hell but overly sincere, somewhat lacking in humor and certain social skills?
My cousin is good friends with Holmes dad and Kenzie from Maine is the bomb. Kenzie Holmes is so good, she is like 14-17 shooting from the post tonight…Indiana is such a good shooting team and so fun to watch. Kenzie Holmes is a legit POY candidate, amazing player. Leading P5 players in shooting %. IU is legit, I don’t know what it looks like if they run into Stanford or SC with the size differences, but they are fun to watch and root for. Beautiful style of basketball to watch.Indiana continues on a rampage. Doubling up Ohio State 24-12 after first qtr.
Isn't it possible to play with passion without taunting? She was fine. I personally like players that show some passion when they play.
Sure. I don't think they are mutually exclusive. But come on. Candace taunted the hell out of whoever's shot she blocked. She would make faces and she's been T'd up before. But no, I don't think her doing that makes her "all about me!"Isn't it possible to play with passion without taunting?
Speaking of historical passionate Lady Vols, Semeka Randall was a helluva demonstrative player. Her nickname was Boo bc of how much UConn fans enjoyed her "passion". Pat once said when Semeka pouted, you could feel it all the way up and down the bench. Ace Clement also did not mind a celebration. Catchings, on the other hand, was stoic.
Fritz from Maryville just all but put the game away for Iowa State over Texas. Committed to Belmont before switching which you know means overlooked by this staff.
Perk for Iowa St was both parents went there

Really? You didn't like Lawson? Was she too demonstrative for you?
Mmm...I'd say Rickea walking off the court alone and without joining the handshake line is worse than anything Angel does. Same with getting suspended for bad practice habits. Candace, Meighan Simmons, Cierra Burdick and Jordan Reynolds were quite demonstrative as well. But as I noted in my earlier post, I think we're more forgiving when it's a Tenn player.
2012, who have they beaten to be considered the #4 team in the country? Looks like their best wins are OK and UCLA, both around the #15-17 range……..That dog won’t run against top ten teams imoProbably because they are tied for first in the Pac 12. They have a 10 and 2 Q1 record so that is a lot of Q1 wins.

Speaking of Candace and taunting, one of my favorites was one where she was on the receiving end. It was her first game against UConn. She was getting positioned for a rebound and called out, "I got it!". Barb Turner (all 5'9/5'10 of her) yells out, "you ain't got SH1T!" and outworks Parker for the rebound. I doubt Parker took it personally, and I'd wager to say the same is true for players on the receiving end of Reese's taunts. Most of them all know each other.
Wouldn't call Catchings stoic. You could see her passion/energy on her facial expressions. Holdsclaw was a different story. As for Clement...I hate to say it, but she wasn't good enough where she should be doing too much celebrating. If you're gonna be *that woman*, you have to be able to back it up regularly.
I agree with you that there has been some hyperbole about how horrible and manipulative Reese is. I am not a fan of players taunting other players. However, I think people making more general assumptions about her relationship with her team and even her as an overall person might be off. There was a very interesting article in the Baton Rouge Advocate about the tight relationship between Reese and Morris, partly based on coming from really rough backgrounds. Their interaction in one game received a lot of negative comments here about Reese, but Morris said they have the type of relationship in which they hold each other accountable, and this has helped both of them. She welcomed Reese's intervention and it led to LSU winning that game. Maybe it is not a coincidence that they are both having career best years. I also think Kim may have plenty of faults, but being overly deferential to a player would not be one. Her style - like it or not - is expressive, direct, tough, and engaged, Her practices especially are known to be really intense and she gets on players when they aren't doing well.I mean the girl can’t even get fired up or help teammates off the floor, hold them accountable during the game without being called self absorbed or, “doing it for the cameras” come on now!
They beat Arizona back when they were up towards a top ten team and same for UCLA. I've seen them play a few times and I would put them in the 15 to 20 range, but if LSU can be where they are no reason for Utah not to be where they are. I have a feeling they could beat LSU on their home court. They are tough there not so much on the road where they lost by 12 to Stanford. We all know how AP ratings work if you don't lose games it doesn't matter who you play it seems your going to be rated high. More interesting is their NET ranking is five so they are highly thought of by the committee and are considered a two seed. I can see them in there with almost everybody else but SC, Stanford, and UConn when UConn has everybody.2012, who have they beaten to be considered the #4 team in the country? Yeah that’s great and all but when you take care of your backyard you dont get overlooked. She was the best player in East TN her Jr and Sr, in the toughest district those years. That’s just bad staff evaluations.Considering that Fritz was headed to Belmont before switching to Iowa State, it appears that she was overlooked by the entire SEC, ACC, and nearly all P5 conferences. Also consider that Tenn signed Wynn, Puckett, Miles, and Striplin that year.
Appears that Fenally found an excellent diamond in the rough...Fritz was 3A Miss Tennessee Basketball...but many good players get overlooked or languish on benches until forced into action. Anybody heard of Lopez Senechal before this season?
