Presque Isle Academy of Coiffure. Waldoboro College of Phrenology?

Should we give KnoxLU a smelt whistle?View attachment 703739
Damn, I was born in Presque Isle! Good one @1reVOLver , not many have ever even heard of the place. Oh yeah, give us the background on smelt whistles....not familiar but curious as hell.

I agree especially with the new teams. People are going to beat up on each other this year. Both LSU and SC have obvious chinks in their armor they didn’t have the last couple years.

I’m not sold on Bama either. I think that’s a chemistry disaster in the making. Green taking a lot of shots for them and Barker and Nye taking a backseat. Not sure that’s going to go well as their schedule gets tougher. Cal has their best team they have had for a while but are a bottom half ACC team imo.
Yes Zaay always got a lot of credit for scoring high numbers even though she took enough shots to make the totals she scored look bad. She has been like 41 percent from the field her entire career. I was not one of the posters that wanted her back at Tennessee. I am much happier with Spencer and Cooper handkling the ball.

Had a friend—lobsterman—here in the Mid-coast. Had a wicked strong Downeast accent. Put it on thick for the summer people. Told them he used his smelt whistle to get bait for his lobster pots. Of course that was pure codswallop. Massholes always bought it.

For folk from away… “Presque Isle (/prɛsk/ PRESK) is the commercial center and largest city in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. The population was 8,797 at the 2020 Census.”

That's about twenty times the population of my village.

Zaay isn’t even a volume shooter, she’s actually a pass first guard that can score when she needs to. She’s taking 11 shots per game, how is that a lot of shots? She’s never taken more than 15 in her career, and that’s when she was at Arkansas Pine Bluff.

Love it, ahh the Downeast humor, I should have known! Fun fact, Aroostook County is the largest county East of the Mississippi.

Imagine a Downeast accent in rural west Texas.

The Mainuh gets lost, stops to ask a rancher for directions. The rancher helps the old fahmuh.
The fahmuh, trying to be polite, asks the rancher, “How big a fahm yuh gawt hea-yuh?”
TheTexan gently corrects him, “Son, this is a ranch, not a farm. I kin start drivin from one corner at sunrise and not git to tother corner till sunset.”

The Mainuh nods knowingly, then speaks.

“Ayyuh. I once had a cah like that too.”

Ole Zaay outdid herself in this game then. She got 25 shots up, more than doubling her average. Next most shots was SAB w 11, only hit 3 of those. Nye also had an off night going 1-7 w only 2 pts. Maybe Zaay had to pick up the slack. Curry will figure it all out I'm sure.

Travis, I think both sense that there are younger players behind them who have passed them in ability. We are witnessing the beginning of a changing of the guard so to speak. Raven still has exceptional ball handling skills so she will always have a role in games/minutes where ball security is paramount, but Maddy McDaniel is pushing for more PT with her play and it’s putting pressure on Raven. Dawn is at the stage where Hall is a ceremonial starter, but at crunch time Tessa gets the minutes because she is a better shooter and ball handler. Joyce Edwards is coming along fast as well.
The explosion of really good young players is picking up every year. The soph class is insane w Watkins, HH, Coop (who I believe belongs in the conversation), Fulwiley, M Williams, M Booker and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Edwards and Strong right on their heels

Better not sleep or get comfortable in this environment. I agree, this younger talent has just blown right by Raven who has been a championship caliber PG. Just a couple of years ago I would have sworn Raven would be a steady W player, but now I think she may fall in the Bree Beale category. Hurts that her offensive game has never really come around and she seems of average speed.

Good call on Bree Hall as a "ceramonial starter". She was always in the Bree Beale category.

Tough world out there right now. At least they're being well paid for the pressure.

I watched their game, Alabama’s offensive flow was not good at all. No movement, no cutting. Lots of standing and waiting for Zaay to go 1-1.

Looks a lot different from what they were doing last season. Zaay was passing so well at her last school. Seems like this is what they’re directing her to do but I don’t think it’s a winning philosophy against better teams.

Zaay is a pro though imo. I think she’ll have a nice career in the W. She is really skilled and so quick at 6’2” with an excellent handle.

A good early game is Indiana at Penn St. Indiana should win but I think it will be a close game. The big girl that plays inside for Penn St, the one we talked about coming here, has made Penn St a lot better.

What streaming services are folks watching the game tonight? I've got sling orange with the sports package. Is there any other streaming that may have fox sports for no cost. It sucks if I have to add sling blue for 1 game....
