Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I really do not understand all of the Mulkey bashing going on here. It's one thing to dislike her choices in attire, or perhaps her unvarnished opinions but most of the bashing going on here is about her coaching abilities and her team culture(s).

I would think her track record as a coach speaks for itself. There is only one current coach in WBB (GA of course) that has a better resume than Mulkey and she doesn't seem done yet, not by a long shot. Unless I am just completely wrong about her, an SEC championship at the very least seems inevitable during her stay in Baton Rouge.
I agree
Like her or not we all know 2 things that are proven
Mulkey can coach and win at a high level
Mulkey can recruit period !!!!

That's fair. Question is does she get it before we do?

What about VanDeveer I think her record is better as well .829 winning percentage and 3 National titles and at least two runnerup and numerous final fours. 9 times out of ten if you can recruit great players you can become a great coach it is how it happens. She really changed my opinion totally when she couldn't say a few kind words about Griner when asked to do so. If you haven't got time to say two sentences in support of a former player then bashing is coming and so it continues.

Beat me to it! Well said!

And NO speaking up back in June is not good enough! Speak up each time if it's necessary. She could be doing work behind the scenes for all i know but sending prayers to her and her family would take 5 seconds each time.

I was really looking forward to watching Brady this season, and felt all summer like she was going to go a long way toward making up for Bueckers' absence -- even as a mere freshman. This is so sad, and I hope she'll bounce back strong next season.

I swear, Connecticut and Tennessee both are freaking snakebit on the devastating injuries. Stanford has always been snakebit, too. Ugh. It was actually surprising to me that Horston actually caught a break with having ONLY the hyperextended knee recently.

Anyway, it makes my heart hurt every time I see another great player from any program lose a season when I know how hard they all work and how much playing means to these kids. 😢 Sorry, Huskies fans.

The difference is that VanDerveer accumulated that record in 44 years. Kim got her 3 titles in 22 years. Tara's winning percentage as HC is .817, Kim's is .857. No matter how you slice it, Kim's record speaks for itself, and it's saying she's one of the best coaches in this century.

Get well soon Ice. Always sick to read of player injury.

Im going to say this in the nicest way without implicating this player but its crazy how karma works. I go over to their board yesterday and they are all cracking big jokes about Harper striking out on recruiting in 2023 and making a mockery of the program as usual with any type of fire they can receive and then boom today this........

Heres what some of their most faithful posters & mods are saying in regards to 2023 recruitment as if Geno has never struck out and had to go the international route only to have the player leave the next season lol .
Yes. No of them become Vols and it’s all because of negative recruiting and NIL back alley deals or Harper decides none of them fit the culture of Tennessee.

I get exactly what you are trying to say. It isn't about the kid at all and wishing her a speedy recovery but some times talking 💩 and karma come back around quicker then expected👀 and they were not good in the post last year WITH an experienced senior so the freshman they were bringing which could make an impact is now out

Just sour grapes and jealousy at a program that actually invested in its women's basketball program and is seeing the results of that investment quicker than anyone imagined. And adding insult to injury, Mulkey is recruiting the state of Tennessee much better than Kellie...

Personally, I try not to read about what other fans says because some ppl are ignorant. Players has nothing to do with any negative things fans says and I feel for them.

I'm not worrying about Geno, I want us to win championship.

Hell, "I'm not worrying about Geno" (or Connecticut), either! Don't get it twisted. lol

But I DO worry about the actual young women on ANY team when I read someone has suffered a season-ending injury or illness. For whatever reasons I don't find it difficult at all to separate my feelings about rival programs and the individual players who play for them when it comes to their actual health and well being. I can want my team to beat their team something fierce, but still have no less basic human decency and compassion to be concerned about rival players when it comes to injuries.
