Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

About whom?
I was writing that post while driving in heavy traffic. I try to be funny with posts sometimes, but at that moment, I just couldn’t think of anyone that I hated, or that would’ve made the end of that sentence funny. I figured if I thought of anything, I would edit it later, then traffic got much worse. Therefore, I left it up to the readers imagination, but I thought for sure somebody out there would’ve ended that sentence. To be honest, I can’t imagine any coach jeopardizing one of their marquee players.

To be fair, she was checked out by a trainer, and she also said she was fine. While sitting on the bench Paige Bueckers asked her, “Are you sure you’re OK?” She stated, “Yes I’m fine.” They then left her out for the entirety of the second half out of precaution. Even when the game got within five points they left her on the bench. I would not call that toxic. Players take hits continuously in tough games, if both the trainer and the player feel that injuries do not warrant it, they do need not need to sit out. In this case it could have felt worse at halftime which is why she did not play. No coach in the country is going to take a chance with a marquee player this early in the season. Not at UConn, not at Tennessee, not at Stanford, although I’m not sure about …….

As I’ve said many times over the years, unless they themselves are certain the injury is serious, ultra-competitive players will lie through their teeth to get back out on the floor. They convince themselves that if they just push through it they can just ice up after the game, get a little rest, and they’ll be good.

Fudd did not want to lose that game, so she did what her young brain thought was reasonable. I often did the same thing when I was her age. I get it. Is it smart? No. Is the trainer supposed to assune their players are lying when they insist they’re okay? I don’t think that would be right, either.

I’m just razzing the Connies. Geno seemed to think Tennessee was toxic for “forcing” Evina to play on a bad knee. So now anytime I see a UCONN player playing with injury I love to point it out.

Sorry, I did not get the inside joke. I just figured it was your normal run-of-the-mill average every day hatred for all things UConn.

Oh, don’t get it twisted. We have got PLENTY of “every day hatred for all things UConn” around here. You take that sarcasm just a little further and I’ll show you some myself. 😂

Granted Barker is not playing for whatever reason, but they should have enough to beat Little Rock without her. Arkansas beat them by 44 and Auburn beat them by 22. Kansas beat them by 32. It could be a long season for A&M.

And they put her back in the game after it happened. Talk about toxic.
ESPN just wrote a full article about her injury and it affecting all of womens college basketball but that program complains they do not get media attention from ESPN . Make it make sense lol ESPN favors UCONN 100% of the time smh.

They couldn’t score at all. Little Rock played inspired and you would tell they weren’t intimidated. Depending on how long Barker is out, it could get really ugly for TAMU.
Already ugly for TAMU. They are a mediocre team with Barker, and a bad one without her. Joni probably questioning her life choices about now...

Little rock is no pushover remember how they should have upset a few in recent tournaments including A&M in 2015 ending their season as well as GT in 2010 .
Arkansas-Little Rock beat Texas A&M 69–60 2015 NCAA Tourney
Arkansas–Little Rock beat Georgia Tech 63–53 2010 NCAA tourney

Joni most likely is only caring about that paycheck rn 1 million shoot id take a year of terrible performance with that type of bag lol . Question is how long does Barker stay bought in to Joni's future and success ? Right now its looking like its going to take 4 years before Joni get's them back to prominence . Does Barker have that in her to sacrifice a season or two or three of underperformance by her team ? Watching her play she looks uncomfortably frustrated with her teammates and has horrible body language for A&M.

That's assuming she can turn things around. She was sitting pretty at Georgia. COY, had a solid team plus Barker coming in. They would have been easily a top 3 team in the SEC. TAMU was a total rebuild. She's lucky she got Barker to follow her. If Joni isn't careful, she could find herself unemployed shortly.

I actually think UGA actually won this move with the hire of UCF coach . They are a tough out and play like a street gang LOL no offense , but i think this UGA team is better than Joni's slow paced UGA team's of the past even the successful ones if you want to have a low measure for what success is/was for UGA with her lol. Im still bamboozled on what she accomplished to deserve a 1 million dollar contract investment from A&M lol. Was it a hire based off "future potential" or did she have some inside help from Team USA when she was an AC for one of the young teams >?

#10 Iowa St plays at #16 Iowa at 7 EST on ESPN2. Any predictions? I’ll go with the home team.
Iowa plays well when Clark scores no more than 20 points , if she goes for 40 the cyclones will run away with this one. I expect Soares to have a field day on offense with Cziano guarding her vice versa for Monica with Soares guarding her . Joens and Clark will both cancel each other out and i believe the cyclones have a better supporting cast than Iowa with Donarski & company.

Cyclones 73
Hawkeyes 66

Coach Abe is spunky, but her team lacks talent. UGA would have been a better team if Joni stayed put with the pieces she had in place.
