Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Watching Ole Miss and Bama.

Bama was ready for this one. They were without Davis and Abrams but knew that coming in and had all week to prepare.

Key for them was how they defended Angel Baker. She can really score, they switched almost all screens with her and denied her the basketball. Made it very difficult to catch and it really disrupted Ole Miss offense.

Ole Miss jumped out to a lead because Alabama wasn’t ready for Salary. Ole Miss got in early foul trouble and salary rattled off a dozen early points. Once Bama adjusted to her she didn’t score again.

Very good defensive game plan and effort from Bama. Quality win on the road for them and without two of their better players.

Kristy Curry is a heckuva coach who prepares her teams extremely well for any level of opponent. I've always thought was waaaaay underappreciated for what she has added to SEC women's basketball.

Big shakeup in the top 25 today a lot of teams lost. I think it will be Sc and Ohio State moving into second UConn third LSU fourth and Stanford moving down to at least fifth. The defense that USC played today is what a team should strive to perfect.

So we will be playing #3 and #4 back to back in a couple of weeks and will have played the entire top 5 at the end of the season.

Wow! USC beat number 2 Stanford!

Sort of. Mostly the officials beat Stanford. I watched that game and it was crazy physical but there was a foul disparity of 23-9 in favor of USC.

Stanford was hobbled by fouls the entire game and the free throws were 8-10 for Stanford vs 17-26 by USC.

Hannah Jump was held the entire game and was fouled on a least two 3s with no call.

Wasn’t a pretty game to watch, didn’t look like basketball which is always sad. Zebras own that loss for Stanford imo.

USC is average and would have lost by 20 if the game were at Stanford.

I think it shows more of the disparity in the women’s game today more than ever. Refs aside, anyone can beat you on any given night. Doesn’t matter who beat you, or who you beat. You come in not ready, someone will defeat you. I think it’s good for the PAC12. They need some disparity with Stanford always on top.
