Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Streak is over for Baylor first time unranked since 2019
Every streak has to come to an end at some point although I don’t see Collens being able to maintain what Mulkey did for Baylor.

But to be fair the two highly touted transfers Edwards and Blackwell aren’t playing so they were never going to be top 25 caliber without those two who they were banking on to play

2022-23 Women's College Basketball Rankings for Week 11 | ESPN

About what I expected except Stanford stayed ahead of UConn. We get 19 votes.

UConn really stunk it up yesterday against cupcake Georgetown. They won the game but the MOV was about 30 points less than expected. Thank God the refs pulled it out for them in the 2nd half. Georgetown played really physical and in the 1st half the refs let it go. In the 2nd half it was whistle after whistle. UConn scored 22 points on FTs. Georgetown scored 5. To make matters worse, Fudd had to come out after re-injuring the same knee.

Rankings are all screwy this season.

North Carolina is still the one that makes no sense. They did pickup a couple decent wins this week but not enough to climb 5 spots.

Everyone and their dog has been beating or playing right with NC State. They are not a top 15 team this season. Finally sliding in the rankings this week.

Toxic.

We have a player on the mens teams with bad knees chronic condition. Never know when he is going to be able to play. Had to have a couple of surgeries. Hopefully this is not the case with her but she has a history of knee problems wishing her the best and hopefully she will be back quickly.

The physical play in WCCB has elevated amazingly this season even over the last few. Refs not calling a lot of fouls even though post players are taking a beating. Watched several games yesterday USC was mauling Stanford getting away with quite a bit of it. Utah and Arizona had a slug fest that ended when Utah won in the last second after going behind with just over a second left. Tennessee vs Georgia was a really physical game. I thought we held our own though Refs could've called a few more fouls on the press attacks on Tennessee players.

I don't see it with the eye test, but somehow NC State is still #6 at HHS, #12 at Massey, and #13 in the NET and RPI.

They just don’t have the heart this season. Not passing the eye test for me either. Diamond Johnson being out was tough for them. Even since she has been back they just look out of sorts.

Lots of silly turnovers, lots of loafing around and lots of talented players playing down to their opponent

Halftime of Vandy at Arkansas, and the score is 26 Vandy, 27 Hogs.

Two teams that matchup well. I think we will smoke Arkansas. I thought they had addressed some of their height issues in the off-season but they may be worse off this season compared to last.

Wolfenbarger has taken a backseat to Poff and Dauda hardly plays.

Dauda was a very highly rated, coming off an injury last season, surprised she hasn’t gotten more minutes at Arkansas with their lack of size.

Wouldn’t be shocked if Dauda ends up in the portal.

Wolfenbarger needs to get her butt in the paint, get an oboard and make a layup. She could be an Angel Reese type player but she wants to play shooting guard.

Reese had similar perimeter dreams but we see that Kim showed her the ways of the paint and she has never looked back.

Vandy staying attached but don’t think they’re gonna get it done. Garraud was on in the first half but has disappeared in the second. Harbinson the opposite. Neither having as good as game as they had against us or they would be ahead.

This is also a HUGE trap game for Arkansas.

They have LSU 1/19, South Carolina 1/22 and Alabama 1/26.

That is brutal all in one week. High risk of 3 losses in a row. May have over looked Vandy a bit looking ahead at that?
