Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Speaking of showboating, saw Deja Kelly blow a kiss seemingly toward the Duke players on the court (although could have been toward the stands behind the goal) as she was running back down the court. I thought maybe I'd misread it, but a few moments later during play stoppage, a NC male assistant called her over with a perplexed and upset look on his face and he mimicked the gesture with a "Why?" look.

Kelly appeared to be giving the old hand-in-the-cookie jar attempt to explain/excuse (repeating the geature in a vastly-toned down version; body language was that of the guilty child trying to minimize a discretion). It appeared that the coach shook his head and firmly indicated that the gesture wasn't appreciated. Reminded me of Summitt calling Bobbitt over and emphasizing, "We don't do that!!!"

If my interpretation of the incident was accurate, I gained a lot of respect for the NC staff. That's how you handle that type of situation, and it helps a young, talented player in the long run.

Sure didn't help em any. AK is scary, and our game is down there I believe.

I thought the same. If they're on their game, they're going to be a handful. They're not just shooters...they all seem to move well, and they can defend when they clamp down, especially when the opponent is disorganized on offense.

Re: LSU...when Peck kept saying, "Best start in school history," I wanted someone to reply, "Worst nonconference schedule in school history."

two comments; MIss State won last evening and none of the Hayes sisters played, the starters all played over 35 minutes

Reece for those who don't remember took a visit to UTn and was not classy then.

Arkansas next game is SC so they could lose their third SEC game. Bama take on LSU at home and could pull the upset will take a huge effort. They are better on the boards than Arkansas and if they can hit those open three looks like Arkansas was doing they could do it.

Nah they did themselves in with that slow start. LSU crushed them the first 5 mins and they spent the rest of the game fighting back.

We will see how good LSU is vs TN ? i don`t think LSU has a player that can match up against 6-2 R, Jackson. I`m looking at there roster i don`t see it. I`m thinking it will be 6-3 A, Reese and she might be a bit to slow ?. I really think TN can win this game vs LSU it will all about the matchups. To me 6-5 Hollingshead will need to showup on both ends of the floor and play 20-25 mins i think. Now when LSU play SC it will be a different story because SC bench is deep and talented.

Arkansas kept it close because they were making three and had ten for the game. They got pummeled on the boards 51 to 26 and hard to win when that happens. They almost pulled it off with three point shooting but if they had missed some of those makes the game would've looked a lot like the first one.

100% Correct

100% correct again Bama is a better rebounding team the Ark by far.

She is a real drama Queen, showboat and the wrong kind of leader imo….did you see the technical they gave her? Her antics are something….great player for sure, but I can’t wait for her game with SC.

Some of it I took as being a really good leader in a tight game and much needed, other times maybe a little much. I do know that her teammates seem to love her and not mind. It was a fun game to watch.

I love Reese and the emotion she plays with. Sure, she can be a bit extra, but wouldn't call her toxic or a bad teammate. Probably a bit immature, but she's what...19? As for the tech, she literally blocked a shot while holding her sneaker with her other hand. It was a great play and I probably would have done the same thing lol. Once Arkansas made it a game, she really dialed up the effort. Honestly, the best way to shut her up is to beat her. I doubt she'd be as demonstrative in a game where they don't have the upper hand.

Something that people are glossing over is how well Arkansas played on offense. After they got into a big whole, they really tightened things up. Barnum in particular made it hard for them because she was constantly pulling their bigs out to the perimeter and then driving around them. They couldn't give her space because she can shoot from outside. Same with Dauda. It was a real luxury to have 5 players on the court that are mobile and can all shoot the ball.

Agree with everything you said. Also, Kim's jacket was the only crime I saw committed last night LOL

I think they meant what did Reese do that was non-classy during her recruiting visit to UT.
I don’t know much about Reese. She seems to be a great player. What I do know is that she took a visit to UT ( don’t know if it was official or unofficial) when Warlick was coach and during a home football game. She sat behind the team while they were signing autographs and she stayed to herself and looked miserable and bored.

Also,LSU 's Morris who has a great year didn't start and was almost a nonfactor until right towards the end.
