North Carolina in trouble?

Having surgery this morning, *might* play this weekend if he can play through the pain.

per his Dad

and there's no chance they beat KU/NCSU without him.

They can beat Ohio without him. Maybe he'll be back on Sunday.

Wouldn't say this seals up anything for Kentucky. But it sure as hell hurts UNC.

Most valuable player to his team in the nation, probably.

Marshall will be limited going forward, if available at all. A combo of White/Watts can buy minutes at PG during the game, maybe the bulk of the minutes depending on the game status, but not at crunch time. Some combo of Barnes/Bullock will have to run the point during the important parts of the games.

Barnes-PG 6'8"
Hairston-SG 6'5"
Bullock-SF 6'7"
Henson-PF 6'10"
Zeller-C 7'0"

Efficiency in the half-court and defensive effort will have to be where they hang their hats with that lineup. Extreme size advantage as well. Domination on the boards would be required.

In short, will have to re-invent themselves as more of a half-court and defensive team without Marshall. Going to be interesting.

They can beat Ohio without Marshall. Gives them a game to learn how to play with a new PG, although he may be back for the Elite 8.

Why would they be in trouble if everyone keeps laying down against them? They should beat Ohio by 15-20. If they don't then they obviously aren't who many think they are.

Your passive aggressiveness is annoying.

I was being honest. I see the Ohio icon under your username. Through reading some of the other threads, I know you either live there and/or are a student there. The only part of your initial statement I would question would be the "Ohio will beat them either way". No Marshall.....it could definitely happen. Healthy Marshall.......absolutely not.

Who are these teams to whom you refer?

I was in a hurry. The reference was actually to the higher seeded teams who should have advanced to give UNC a test, all laid down and took it up the hiney hole. The 4 (UM) and the 5 (Temple) gave way to the 12 and 13, and I don't care what type of momentum Ohio is carrying, UNC should beat them handily with or without Marshall.

Yeah, the Sweet Sixteen is usually the round where double-digit seeded Cinderellas go to die. Early-round upsets don't seem as much fun when they give way to bad TV in the third round that could have otherwise been great games. An exception was George Mason, who had the fortune of playing the Regionals in their backyard.

Marshall got the cast off today, wearing a removable splint. My best guess is he'll be available in an "emergency situation" against Ohio.
