So I thought on my earlier post for a bit...it seems that if all the NC schools are put in one division, then UVA and VT would need to be in the opposite. And presuming Pitt and Syracuse still need to play each other, so would they.
That would mean so far Division "A" and "B" would look like:
A: UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest
B: UVA, VT, Syracuse, Pittsburgh
Leaving the following 6 teams: FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Louisville, Boston College
-------------------
I came up with 3 (more or less) possible set ups:
- The first has Miami & FSU in "B," Clemson & GT in "A
.with Louisville & Boston College split between divisions (this one might work best)
A: UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisville/Boston College
B: UVA, VT, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, FSU, Miami, Louisville/Boston College
Required as permanent cross-division games: UNC-UVA, Clemson-FSU...
- If Louisville is in A, somehow match up GT & Louisville against VT & Miami (so either GT-VT & Louisville-Miami OR GT-Miami & VT-Louisville)
- If Boston College is in A, somehow match up GT & BC against VT & Miami (so either GT-VT & BC-Miami OR GT-Miami & VT-BC)
- Miami & FSU are in A, Clemson & GT are in B
with Boston College & Louisville split between divisions.
A: UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, Miami, FSU, Louisville/Boston College
B: UVA, VT, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Boston College/Louisville
Required as permanent cross-division games: UNC-UVA, Clemson-NC State
and then match up of GT & VT against FSU & Miami somehow (probably GT-FSU & VT-Miami)
- Miami, FSU, & Clemson all in A, with Boston College, Louisville, & Georgia Tech in the other
A: UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, FSU, Miami, Clemson
B: UVA, VT, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Louisville, Georgia Tech
Required as permanent cross-Matchups: UNC-UVA, Georgia Tech-Clemson
.and somehow match VT & Louisville against FSU & Miami (so either VT-Miami & FSU-Louisville or FSU-VT & Miami-Louisville).
