FOXNews.com - North Korea Threatens to Restart Nuke Program Over Rocket Launch Sanctions - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News

it kinda seems odd to me that North Korea was nothing more then a little stir when President Bush was in office, and now since President Obama is in office im Jong Il and the north korean regime has hastily resumed their nuke threats and missle programs?

i think its because KJI did anything President Bush wouldnt hesitate to bring the hammer down, and now that President Obama is callin the shots they are a little more ballsy,

N. Korea was nothing more than a little stir while Bush was in office? They had multiple long and medium range missile drills during Bush's presidency. One actually flew over Japan. They have always used the nuclear threat, and in fact, claimed to test one underground during the Bush years.

correct. they were far from " a little stir". They're absolutely testing BHO with this, but were smart and quiet and let the world maintain focus on Iraq and the financial crisis as a blanket to cover their activities.

-They were caught shipping scud missiles to Yemen in 2002.
-They withdrew from the NNPT in 2003.
-They have been aggressively pursuing weapons grade plutonium and now uranium with Iran.

Closest we've gotten is the Six-Party talks... which ended up netting very little progress.

Sept 2005: At first hailed as a breakthrough, North Korea agrees to give up nuclear activities. Next day, N Korea says it will not scrap its activities unless it gets a civilian nuclear reactor. US imposes financial sanctions on N Korea businesses.

July 2006: N Korea test-fires seven missiles. UN Security Council votes to impose sanctions over the tests.

Oct 2006: N Korea claims to have carried out nuclear test

BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | North Korea claims nuclear test

No doubt they are testing Obama, but it isn't like they were scared of Bush and waited for the weak liberal to take office.
