And also, it's the largest win by an FCS opponent over an FBS team. The previous record was Lehigh over Penn 58-0 in in in 1981, but Penn (and the rest of the Ivy League) left the FBS for the FCS in 1982. The largest win by an FCS team over a current FBS team was incidentally by North Texas in 1983, when they beat New Mexico State 49-3: The Mean Green didn't join the top tier until 1995. The largest win by a current FCS team over a current FBS team was a 41-3 win by Southern Illinois over NMSU, also in 1983.
I am guessing there has to be a player/coach mutiny of some sort. It was 45-0 at half. They were more competitive versus SMU and other FBS programs. Won 9 games, 2 seasons ago.
OT, but interesting to note that the number crunchers at the Wall Street Journal just awarded North Texas with the best home field advantage in college football at almost +6 points per game.
They need to play hard for 60 minutes. It's fine if you put in 2nd string at some point, but play hard and play to score all 60 minutes. North Texas agreed to come here to play. They will gladly cash the check. I don't give a crap about their feelings if UT scores 80 or more.
