Tri-cities and Northeast TN, will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy on July 31st,2005.

The state of Tn estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets.
1 Million will go to pay state troopers overtime. There will be 57 state troopers on duty at all times.

They are the following specific area's
I-81 North and South
I-26 North and South
I-40 East and West

Now 5 mph above the posted limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes.
They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Vics and are bringing all their part timers on full time.
Im not sure of truth to any of this? It supposedly was broadcast over a local radio station? Never the less, if you travel in Northeast Tn id keep it in mind......

Sounds like a money sceme to me? I mean how can you not speed, I-81-I-40? Do 80+ or get ran over!

note to self: Invest in a more modern radar detector ASAP.

These troopers need to get a life and stop bothering people that are trying to get to point a to point b in life. Yeah, it will generate 9 million dollars and make everyones life a little more miserable than it already is.

I feel better now... :matrix:

The only ticket that I ever got out of was on my way to the Tennessee vs Bama in Bham. My friend went to school there and I called and told him where I was....he said.."put the pedal down, they never radar on the interstate"....as soon as I did, the lights were flashing.

He was very nice, especially considering I was wearing my orange. The ones here in Va are terrible. They have nothing to do but sit around and point their little radar gun at you.

Come to GA. The speed limit here is not so much a law as it is a suggestion.

I really like Atlanta, but in that city, you don't need a speed limit with all that traffic...

One of the craziest places to drive is I-75 in Atlanta just AFTER rush hour traffic starts to loosen up. It's bumper to bumper 80 mph.

OWB, Thats the only troopers ive had to meet (VA).
What is it they beat into their heads? I did 10 yrs in the Va Natl guard, and won me 2 tickets from a trooper in my own unit.

He'd told me im'a catch you out! He at that time didnt like my window tint. Then clocked me at 77 in a 65 around exit 10.
Wrote me for both, then tapped on my window, and said he'd get me for larceny if i didnt return his ink pen. :dunno:

Im not so sure (again) to any truth to this?

Im Searching around to see if it has made headlines any where.

But it does sound like some mid to late summer increase of customers, for the States pocket. They do have that state police headquarters between here I-81 and I-40, I-26.

I live in N. GA and work in Chattanooga. This must be a statewide thing. A co-worker on their way in yesterday was stopped for going 58 in a 55 and was given a warning. She was told if she had been going 2 mph faster she would have a $200 ticket.

:nono: There are BIGGER things going on out there besides speeding!!!!!!
