PSU fans trashing Franklin for time management..they had 3 time outs with NW driving inside the 30 but didn't call the first until there were 30 seconds left.

I'm tempted to start either the meltdown that is happening at the Penn State forum or the meltdown that is happening at Clay Travis's house :)

Re: franklin is terrible
Its obvious to anyone who knows the game that he's not the guy. He never was. He's just keeping the seat warm until the right one comes. I say after signing day and the class is wrapped up, they should buy him out and wash their hands of him.

What was the score at that point?

21-20 PSU ahead. NW scored a field goal with less than 10 seconds to win.

Wait, why would anyone want their coach to call 3 timeouts there, then? If anything they should be upset that their defense wasn't able to stop them.

Calling timeouts that far out just takes pressure off and makes it easier for their offense to collect themselves and draw up some plays. Most coaches will play it that way with that time crunch.

You're assuming that Penn State fans 1) stopped drinking long enough to actually watch the game and know what was happening, and 2) have any clue what good football looks like.

Is Penn State playing good football? They are 7-3, with their best win coming against a 5-4 Illinois team(who will probably finish at or below 500)..PSU still has to play Michigan and Michigan State..so they will probably end up 7-5..they are also ranked #105 in offense

This had me confused as well. Never heard of the winning team calling TO's while on defense.

The only thing I can think of is if a FG beats you then you want to leave yourself some time since the other team can let the clock run down to hit a makeable FG.

#105 on offense isn't far from where James Franklins' teams/offenses have finished since he was an OC at Maryland. He's so incredibly overrated as a football coach it's incredible. If Bob Shoop, his defensive coordinator ever takes off and his team can't rely on its defense to win games, he may never win another collegiate football game...and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
