If Gruden does bolt to Philly and if Norv is axed then, hey, USC hired an NFL reject and look what happened with them. Reid doesn't come off to me, however, as someone who could put up with recruiting. Turner seems more desperate to me.

If we can't get Gruden then I say go after someone who has coached in the NFL.

NO college coordinators, no "up and comers."

You absolutely have to hire a known name at this point.

I would LOOOOOOVE to have a Tony Dungy but doubtful he wants to coach again - much less collegiately.

Dungy did little without a guy named Mr. Manning as his QB.

Reid is a study/film geek tailor-made for the NFL.

Norv Turner is a horrible head coach but a very good OC.

Dont see Gruden in Philly. He and Reid are very close and doubt he takes it for that reason. Not like he needs to coach so he can be selective.

Turner and reid just don't strike me as college coaches or recruiters. Complex offenses. Dungy would be good but that isnt happening

Dungy is a class act. Shame he wouldn't though because it would be a sure thing a certain fomer player at QB might just follow him.

No. No. and No.

Very little, if any, college experience with any of those guys.

all kinds of no. this is getting ridiculous. let's throw a Harbough in there, too. both lead successful NFL teams but maybe they want to go back to college just because it's a name someone thought up...

Why do we have to get a "known name"? Does a "known name" like Norv Turner know how to coach at the college level? Recruit? I have never seen a more boring head coach than Andy Reid. My goodness. He would be a disaster in recruiting. The names of failed pro coaches that became failed college coaches is LONG and distinguished...like my johnson (movie reference).

Turner hasn't coached in college since 1983.

Reid since 1991.

Dungy hasn't since 1980.

Notice a trend? Other than all three taking talented, preseason Super Bowl contending teams and running them into the ground or struggling to win a playoff game on a yearly basis?

At least Gruden has talked to some college teams after leaving Tampa and shown some interest in the college game.

Reid needs time off to deal with his family issues. Turner isn't a very good head coach. Dungy doesn't want to coach.
